The last time I actually played AQ was back in 2006/2007. I'm now coming back across it and I just had a few questions if anyone can assist.

Level: 85
Guardian: Yes

Questions
1. What should my stats be if I wanted to focus on a balanced wizard/mage class.
2. What items/spells/pets should I buy to catch with. (All my current items/spells/pets are from level 30-60)
3. Do you have any recommendations as to what I should go do. Such as quest for an item, unlock something etc.

If you have any other dumbed down advice you would like to give, I would greatly appreciate it. Many of these guides are way above my level of play.

That's quite the lengthy break. Welcome back. I'll try to help a bit. Advice here is for a spellcasting playstyle. Don't need to stick with it, feel free to do your own thing too.

Mage builds need intellect mainly. Up to you for the rest. Intellect, Endurance and Luck seems fine for typical builds but you can swap Endurance for Charisma for a bit more variety. Your current stats are fine but experiment too in order to find something fun.

You should go for a full reset on gear minus any actual rares unless you don't care.

For one do access blade of awe which will then be swapped to staff version through a dialogue from Valencia if you choose the private visit option. From the same npc upgrade your no-drop to awe. Optionally you can go for ultraguardian.

Then there's subrace. Your current one of werewolf won't provide much benefit so swap to vampire. You could try werepyre too. That one is more for hybrids but I find mage builds function just fine with it. Another option is a new subrace called Neko. This is suited for beast builds or rangers but doesn't hurt to know of.

Two classes to focus on will be necromancer and paladin. This is more of a lategame addition but progress towards each will be good. Light/Dark is basically dominated by them.

A recent addition for mages is a fire armor called Praetorian Warlock. It's accessible from the Twin Gambit quest which might be in today's events or from Waric under the Rubicon March.

For water there's archmage apprentice, a spellcaster lean option from the Junior Squires quest.

Wind I'll recommend fungibushi which you get from ballyhoo's contest section. Available for everyone in a shop.

Ice I can't think of an option as it's my default element on no-drops.

Earth you could just use a subrace. There's element variants so you could use them as placeholders. All decent.

Energy you'll need to figure. Only recommendation I could give is in a golden giftbox but the armor is Infinite Dark Caster.

Spell recommendations: destruction burst, mana regeneration as a start. The praetorian warlock armor has its own fire spell too, fungi a wind spell and necro covers dark.

There can be a lot more to say here but it's more effort than I can currently commit. Instead here's the wiki: https://adventurequestwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Equipment_Guide Though recommendations are for endgame you can see potential gear goals.

When you can't play much use the recently added guardian gains in the guardian tower. Free xp/gold. A house can help. Lowest cost is 189 tokens. Gives access to house guard farming which is rather fast leveling.

Account manager lets you upgrade gear without questing again. Not everything. Guardians get 1 free golden giftbox (ggb). Wiki has info.

There's official and unofficial discords to join too for better assistance. Hope this gave some assistance. There's definitely more detailed focused responses to be offered by others. Good luck.

Thank you very much for the detailed response.

Before I started questing for items like staff of awe (sword first as you said) I was going to try upgrading my equipment from the town vendors.

Does it really matter or anything stick out specifically in the 80-90 range that I should get. My biggest worry right now is inventory space so I want to make sure I utilize the right items.

You can use shop items as temporary fillers. It'll get you through most or even all content. All you need is close to your level gear. Mana regeneration might be most important. Costs a turn but does allow for near constant spellcasting.

Inventory space issues are helped by buying a house. Even the lowest tent is +2 each slot. If you can get tokens buy a house. And don't commit space to gear easy to access. Obviously have elemental coverage but beyond that consider gear temporary. Everything you have can be replaced.

There's a vault you can eventually buy for 500 token giving +3 spaces in a separate section compared to inventory.

Compression items (multi-element) function as space savers too.

Everything will become obvious to you hopefully.

Sure. In AQ the class is trained at Obsidias Lair on your travel map. When you go without requirements the game informs you of what's missing. I wanna say mage, wizard and beastmaster is needed but you'll see exact requirements.

Class has 20 skills, you do a typical class training quest every 4 then each 5th is a story progression. After 20 you can do the advanced quest.

You can find youtube vids of the process.

Wiki post explaining necro skills: https://adventurequestwiki.fandom.com/wiki/Subraces_and_Classes#Necromancer

The training is pretty straightforward, minor toughness on milestone points but worth the effort.
