 Just a heads up as I conk out to sleep. We'll be opening the gift boxen on Monday (presumably the last few % of the war will be done by then). Got a bit more to hammer out on them, but I've been somewhat ill this weekend, so I'm gonna get a bit of rest for today and get the boxen taken care of either Sun evening or Mon morning. Your patience is appreciated!

I absolutely love me some GIftBoxen! I sincerely regret selling off my old Giftbox rares when I was a kid LOL but every year I make sure to be on for Frostvale! I'm so happy to have found this game in 2005 ill always cherish these moments

 Despite fighting through a bit of blargh today, I did manage to get the weapons finished! There's some borks with a few of the other items, but I'm going to be focusing on the shield and pet next, since those won't be quite as complex as the spell/armour/misc.

Main thing that's holding up the spell is it's going to eat a status we've not had a setup for eating before, so that's gotta be rigged from scratch, and I'm hammering out numbers on one of the effects on the armour so it's useful but not overpowered for what you put in. I'm gonna hash out some more bits with Lorekeeper and toss some numbers around while I work on the pet/shield, so thanks for your patience!

 Managed to get the shield and pet taken care of! For now I'm going to take a bit of a break and then work on the rest of the giftbox stuff later today. Hope y'all enjoy the items, and thanks for your patience while I'm dealing with being a bit blech.

 Pet seems to be bugged. Regular DefBoost mode isn't giving any DefBoost, and the Greater Defloss/Defboost modes use up all my SP. Greater DefBoost mode is also giving +42.35 DefBoost (double what the info subs say).

EDIT: Seems to have been fixed already, that was quick. (Meanwhile Sleighguard pet has been bugged since its release this time last year )

For a Frostval that took us back to the start in its own way, and even included a lot of the old graphics, I find it very disappointing that we didn't get any retro-themed gifts at all (all the "oh yeah, here's the shop, let's skip that part" messages were killing me, man!). Modernized versions of some of the original gifts could have been amazing, with or without any syngery between them, and with or without fancy new-style effects. Even just purchasable versions of the Retro Fire and Ice Salamander Rider armors would have been amazing, especially since you already went through the trouble of updating them.

I can't help but feel this was a huge missed opportunity. :(


The giftbox pet is very cute, though. Not sure what to make of the weapon and shield yet, but the pet is definitely a keeper! I'm more of a mishmash-of-unrelated-items kind-of-guy, as opposed to a matching-set kind-of-guy anyway.

I'm grateful for the Dire lean on Mogster Suit, all status support is much appreciated. I know we have Neko, but I actually enjoy having different looking armors instead of filling my inventory with just fursuits.

 Had a bit of back and forth on details with the armour and misc, and got the final bits for it hammered out earlier this evening. I made progress, but as the eye strain is getting to me, I'm conking out for sleep and going to hopefully finish the armour and misc in the morning. Thanks again for y'all's patience as we hammer out these details and I deal with the general blechness of being a bit ill.

Out of curiosity, are the people who pre-ordered this year's calendar going to get a hint as to what the reward is going to be this year outside of the title 'Archivist of Time' some time soon? Or is it just going to be a surprise until it's released?

The shield is neat in terms of potential utility, I like the sword for having a more defensive utility than weapons tend to, and passive healing is always nice, and I'm sure the spell has its uses when the whole set is used together along with the pet, but...speaking of the pet...

Yeah, it's the star of the show. No surprises there. Obviously haven't tested the armor yet, but I can't see the armor being better than a reliable Defloss/buff tacked onto a pet. My only issue is the long animation might become a little annoying in lengthier battles, BUUUUT that is absolutely NO criticizing the animation for how COOL it looks. I love the animation and the text prompt that comes with it. And a reliable source of either accuracy or evasion...I mean, any item with adjustable utility (like BtHlean on weapons) is automatically good. But Defloss that STACKS more and more as the battle goes on? That's kind of huge. Even inaccurate weapons become viable when the enemy is at -27 MRM. It's a not-insignificant power boost comparable to Dunamis/Thurnda/Poelala, but with the added benefit of having a defensive toggle which works fantastically with dodge-based builds. It's a universally-useful pet, which is rare to say. Unless I'm missing something, this pet is amazing.

EDIT: Actually, now that I've been using it in several battles to test it out, the animation isn't any longer than a typical pet. I was just wowed by the animation, I guess. Nevermind, GREAT pet, no notes.
