 Before people start raising pitchforks, I'll just drop my theory from what I get from the image preview in the newsletter. It might be possible that the Jester Armor holding cards and bombs is the update to the classic token armor, and the armor that has the staff and shield might be the GGB version, so until we get staff confirmation, let's hold off on the pitchforks.

Hey I wanted to know if the Jester Masquerade update variant seen in the email is locked behind GGBs or if there are two separate versions (as it was pointed out to me that one is holding the traditional bombs and cards and the other is holding a weapon). If there is no separation and the banner art was done as promotional, why is the previously ZT-only armor now having its update being locked behind GGBs. The armor was teased and is very obviously the old ZT armor but given a new coat of paint. So far in past cases when releasing or giving armors updates, they typically follow their predecessors and go in the same shop as their original variants did (think the Retro Nightmare/Golden armors and the Halliphanx armor) with the exception being the coal golem morph as it's an old Frostval rare.

If one of the previewed Jester armors is meant to replace the one in the token shop, could we please get a retro/classic version as well, for those that prefer the original art?

So far, there has been no mentions in this newsletter of the Jester Armor in Alnaphar being updated though, but if they are indeed going to update it, I hope that they will also add in retro versions of the Reign and Shadow sets as well as spells to call/summon Geldar and 'forgot the name of the undead dragon in the Shadow Set quest'.

 The original Jester Armor is only getting a mechanical tune-up! We’re updating its numbers to meet current standards while keeping the classic look exactly as you remember it for all our retro fans. While the Fool's Folly set draws inspiration from the original Jester aesthetic, it is a completely standalone set with some major surprises in store. Also, just to clear up any confusion: the two armors showcased in the newsletter are simply the male and female variants of the same Fool's Folly armor.

So to be absolutely clear, the release is essentially two premium armors (one being a full set worth of mechanics/another being an update) while we still have April Fool's as our latest free contest quest? I'm not wanting to be especially rude here, but it's hardly worth being excited for more paid for content in the same year that has had nothing BUT content that I've had to pay for. The lack of free content as of late has been really frustrating to watch, especially knowing that there's really only one active coder and a huge backlog of issues that still need to be addressed.

As well my excitement basically dropped because I do in fact like the Jester armor so hearing it's only getting a mechanical tune up and is completely divorced from the Fool's Folly despite it being a very clear and intentional reference is upsetting. Not even to mention that this new armor's mechanics could have gone to an actual free set instead of just locking it behind a paywall and us having to hope those mechanics will get seen again in something everyone can enjoy.

Playing the opposition to Maxtrigon - personally I do not mind it being GGB, but that's because I've paid for Guardianship and have hoarded them for quite a bit, so I'm no longer really affected by the premium cost in that regard. Real F2P players (who do not even have Guardianship) can perhaps comment, w.r.t. their experience in the GGB economy.
Also I hope to point out the reminder that attaching a premium to such items does, in a way, help keep the lights on. Also, there's no indication that Fool's Folly will have absolutely unique mechanics that will never, ever, be released in other F2P gear.

So, this also turns out to be an appreciation post for the devs - you're doing good work, and I remain optimistic of how it might turn out, even as I do echo the sentiment that a) I hope Ianthe gets well soon, and b) somehow the AQC team receives the miracle of a team expansion.

Wow the jester armour glow up is a big surprise. It was an iconic armour back in the day. Would love to see more of these retro glow ups. Can we get glow ups for stuffs like little death, og chronomancer etc

It's not the same armor, it's a completely different set unfortunately.
As per the words of Hollow:

The original armor isn't going to get the same treatment the previous retro armors had gotten, it sounds more like an up-scaling of stats than anything more meaningful than what the Retro Golden/Nightmare sets got which is rather upsetting.
