Phrased as a question, but more of a discussion thread. My goal with this is to have a place for people to post their concept ideas and/or preferences for the under-represented spellcaster lean. Mechanics suggestions (More like theory-crafting. There IS a suggestions thread, after all.), elemental preferences, visual designs or themes, set concepts, etc.

My thoughts? Water, Light, and Earth (kinda, I'll come back to this) are extremely underrepresented in the Spellcaster armors side of things. That's not to say there aren't SC armors of those elements, but they aren't....good. The fact that Fungibushi plays the roll of Wind, Ice, AND Light is good for defensive purposes, but that's about it. The usable Water SC armors are middling at best, and the only real Light SC armor (that's not currently rare) is flat out terrible, and the rare one is mechanically demanding. At least Ice can be covered with premium or URGGB gear, but Water and Light are really hurting for good SC coverage.

So, why did I say Earth is underrepresented despite Eternal Champion's Spirit being available? Well, ECS's skill is expensive. Strong, but costly. In my experience, overcharged spells aren't typically worth it except for niche cases. And its SP regen is useful since Mages struggle with SP recovery without using miscs. But I wouldn't really call it a dedicated SC armor. More like a balanced armor that's good for mages AND warriors. Which makes its specialized utility kinda split. Hooooowever, NECROMANCER has a secondary resistance to Earth, making Earth entirely covered. Necro isn't a dedicated EARTH armor, but.....It's Necro. It's Necro. The thing is categorically broken. The fact that it covers Darkness, Earth, and Ice as its main and secondaries means those elements will NEVER need any other support. There's an argument to be made that Necromancer is literally the ONLY armor any mage would ever need. Barring that, though, Water and Light need some dedicated support. Something with a built-in spell.

P.S. I know the Chaos Slayer Cleric armors are a thing that can cover any element, but they use SP to use their spell skill, which...not great for mages.

Praetorian Warlock introduced an ideal mage armor. I would like to see that be the base design where variants differ a bit. Fire got celerity but there can be other effects too in other elements. The MP heal and damage buffs should remain on all.

I do like the ggb qualia armors too and they might be among the best for the SC category so more clones could be fun. Archmage Apprentice introduced cost reduction by sp cost. I think that armor has a great shield too.

There's plenty of options to get inspiration from.
