Now a SparkleHoof pet would really get my attention. Hopefully attacking with rainbows and stars.

Why would you purposefully create a spell that costs MP and regenerates... MP? Unless the intention is for players to use interactions to break and exploit it, just make it cost less MP.

Don't see how this is any different from a summon guest healing mp. The idea that a resource spent cannot then be replenished by the same source is wild to me. With the already limited expected casts from the mp bar, it's okay to see some return on the initial investment especially if that return is below the break even point of the initial cost. If items can be used to boost returns that's okay. This is an absolute non-issue. We got a nice recovery option for whoever lacks it.

It's a bad recovery option in the context of MP. As you yourself state, it costs far more MP than it regenerates.

I don't intend to start a debate on the nuances of circular healing more generally, even if I very much disagree with your assertion that it's a non-issue. My point is that the MP regeneration serves absolutely no purpose unless the staff explicitly want to encourage players to break the game. Such encouragement would be a departure from their previous stance, and I'd like to see that acknowledged if so.

The way it functions I think that the regen special from Whack to School Locker was copied and added as to make a drown spell worth it. Getting some mp back is nice and we've seen several items focus recovery in some way recently. Guess this is the next attempt.

I'll keep it but have no immediate need of it.

My rebuttal: Infinite Dark Caster

Full stop.

Infinite Darkcaster is also a bad option if the goal is to restore MP.

Its inbuilt spell provides a Power: 2 drain poison for 5 turns. Putting aside its chance of failure, that MP heal is worth 100% Melee, which is boosted to 125% Melee since it scales on damage and the armour boosts the damage of poison effects (also overpowered by modern standards, by the way). Even with this boost, you only recover enough MP to recover the spell cost, which is 125% Melee. Over 5 turns.

Can you boost the damage to heal more over time? Absolutely, but we'd get into exactly the same situation as the one described above.

Darkcaster is great in a number of ways, but MP recovery isn't one of them.

Also, no, it is not comparable with Apopcalypse.

@Aura Knight below: I'm focused on 'the numbers' because that is how much it heals. I can also assure you that I have tried it in practice - it is an armour I actively use.

MP recovery is that armor's best feature. You seem more focused on the numbers than how it is in practice. Slow start with exponential growth on the return would over time give back enough MP to be a pretty good option especially if you boost that which should not be ignored as a possibility. The chance to fail is for sure a negative but you shouldn't be failing frequently.
