Book 4: Twinned Doom - The Plain Truth
Hey there, heroes!

This week, Book 4's main story continues!

After a Shadowsycthe assassin interrupted Mihyun's address to the nobles of Swordhaven, you and Queen Victoria have a lot of questions for her. What is she hiding? Why did the assassin target her? When the truth is finally revealed, where will your adventures take you next?

Head over to Queen Victoria in Bk3/4 Swordhaven to find out in this week's quest: The Plain Truth!

Also this week, a new cosmetic helm is available for Dragon Coins!

The Bright Guard helm is available from the DC Cosmetics shop for 300 Dragon Coins.

There certainly seem to be a lot of Deadlands themed releases this month... It's quite the coincidence!

And that's all for this week!

More Book 4 let's gooooo

spoiler:

This one was packed! As we suspected, Mihyun's mother is the Hyonite leader. And it seems the lands of Lore are as mysterious and fantastical to the Plains as they are to us, funny that.

And yes Notha, I too am also very excited that we're seeing the Plains for ourselves, and no doubt there will be much to glean about the Exalted, Aequilibria, the Avatars, the Great Dragons, and much more. I'm sure Warlic, Jaania and Alexander will understand if we take some time to see the sights, meet the people and learn the history; all without starting any inter-dimensional wars in the process! :D

And I almost laughed when the Hero asked if Neso disappearing on the Hyonites was a recent occurrence, I was thinking that exact same thing. Super glad the events of the Malerous saga didn't leave an entire race of people with out their magic o_o'''''

Speaking of, it makes sense that their water crystals would make them such a target for the other elemental factions. I'm guessing anyone could theoretically use them to channel powerful water magic regardless of their own elemental affinity, which would be invaluable in an environment like the Plains.

And of course, the Shadowscythe spying on them on top of everything else... From what we know about them, they presumably inhabit the Darkness Plains, but I suspect their operations in the Plains in general are much more intricate and widespread, if they were so easily able to send an assassin to follow Mihyun.

Very keen on Book 4's story so far, looking forward to seeing more!

This was a fun little jaunt through the Deadlands. ^_^
I wonder whether the rains will bring them back to life, if only a little...
(As a matter of fact, I really hope they will.)

spoiler:

It's interesting to see the difference in Mihyun's attitude towards elementals as opposed to her own people... I wonder what their relationship is.

Notha's little bombshell, that Aequilibria came from beyond the Plains (from beyond the Wastes?) makes me wonder how far we'll be going, and what we'll discover out there.
Mihyun named some factions, which I'm sure will put in an appearance sooner or later -- but first, we need to have a wee little chat with the queen. I hope it goes peacefully for a change of pace. Fingers crossed![/quote]

Hard to believe we're here so soon

spoiler:

I did not expect us to go back to the Plains so soon but I'm not complaining and if it helps us solve this water elemental incursion sooner than all the better. Furthermore, I must admit I'm curious as to what Neso and Hyonix were feuding over in the Plains so badly that she would have cursed an entire people to no longer be able to cast water magic itself. My suspicions tell me that it could have been around the time Kathool broke free from their prison initially and thus enslaving the water elves on Lore and so they may have been fighting over what to do about them. Regardless, it's pretty cruel of Neso to remove their magic and I wonder how the lands that still held her protection are holding up without her presence.

If there are multiple Water Plains then perhaps there are also numerous Darkness Plains for them to safely hide from Voidstar's core sphere of influence as well as protect themselves from the other elements within the entirety of the Elemental Plains itself. Though I suspect they might also be hiding and operating in areas such as the Wastes.

Just caught up with many of the recent releases and I've been liking them so far :)

Mihyun being a little stupid is very funny to me, but I also really like her design and animations. I just wish she had a skill like Konnan's that allowed her to deal non-water damage, since as it stands, she cannot use her best skills. Aquella's trident also has a weakness-seeking property so I'm not sure why this feature was not included for Mihyun. It's also nice that there are so many new guests with Aquella, Mihyun, and Fae. I did want to point out though that the Alz'ein and Nirios guest (Master of Puppets) says that he inflicts -20 All, when he actually inflicts -15.

Yeah, I think it's really silly how the actual consequences of Myalos nuking the Avatars were never mentioned. Fortunately, I have a feeling that Notha, Lock, and Key can actually help them restore their former glory in Neso's dormancy. That might actually be what ends the conflict and causes the Hyonites to withdraw.

I don't think this is the case. Voidstar explicitly corrects the other Avatars in the Firmament that Darkness and Shadowscythe are not the same. Although it's easy to make the mistake, seeing as to how the AQW Voice in the Sea story mentions Aquella's race being attacked by a colossal Darkness Elemental. When you find half of its corpse, though, it's clearly some kind of Doom Spirit. So I guess lots of characters also don't make the distinction immediately. I always assumed that Doom Spirits were from space, perhaps existing as warped remnants of Valoth's Shadowscythe (the purple aesthetic).

Yeah this part was really interesting. One of the factions mentioned was that of the Unifier Kinnar from one of the recent inn releases. From all we know, Kinnar trained to be a Dragonlord but wasn't very good at it, so he instead chose to unify his people and bring peace to his lands. I guess his hands thirst for the scent of Hyonite blood, though.

Edit: While it isn't related to the subject, I would greatly love to see Lord Brentan from AQW in DF. He's genuinely one of the best characters in that game and since DF seems to be dabbling in the pool of Swordhaven royals controlling the kingdom in secrecy (which Victoria hates), I would like to know if Brentan exists outside of the AQW canon and, if he does, how he would be like in a pre-AQW world. He's tragic and complex but also a genuinely good human being and I think he would fit right into what the last Christmas release painted Dragonfable out to be; a gentle world that could heal the wounds of the most evil and the most corrupt. Ironically, even Sepulchure seemed to be affected by this nature of Lore, as his love for Gravelyn was what turned him into such a sympathetic character despite it being rather awkward that a genocidal warlord was just absolved of his crimes in your eyes because you were cool with his kid lol

I also really wanna know what happens in the Twilly/Celestia plotline, that quest was really sweet and heartwarming. I love Lady Celestia and have an OC based on her, and I'm glad she's getting so much attention even posthumously, what with also the Elysia quest from a year or two ago.
