alphaberzerker -> [gimp] BG tut (4/23/2008 19:58:36)

OK guys this is my first tut ever and i got a few comments on the BG of this
so im gunna teach you (hopefully) how to make this BG (its the same BG only withourt the green tint), i want to announce that i borrowed some ideas for the first few steps from Shadowraith on gimptalk.com, just the B&W part the rest is mine however.

i used these brushes so get'm if you want
set 1(Keep-Dreaming-Ultimate-Vol-2)
set 2(Ad-Hero-s-Reactions-Brushes)
set 3(Sentinel-GFX-Cloud-Grunge)

first open your canvas i used 400x120 but you can use w/e

1. fill it with black

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic1.png[/image]

2. make a new layer
then set your FG color to white and stroke around with a brush from set 2
set to normal at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic2.png[/image]

3. make a new layer
set your FG color to black and brush over the white with a the same or similar brush from the same set, but make sure there is some white showing
set to normal at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic3.png[/image]

4. make a new layer
change your FG color back to white and make a few clicks using the same or a similar brush from set 2
change your FG color back to black and make lik 1 click towards the bottom with an ad hero brush
put it on normal at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic4.png[/image]

5. make a new layer
do edit->copy visable->paste
go to filters->blur->motion blur
set the length to 80 and the angle to 165
set to normal at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic6v2.png[/image]

The following layer is optional and unless u place a render in the center of the piece like so it can really ruin the flow (thanks for pointing this out sonic beam)

6. make a new layer
set your FG color to 4d6583
use brushes KD_Ultimate_Ed-02-41 and KD_Ultimate_Ed-02-45
to create some flow to the right side of the tag
set on normal at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic6v3.png[/image]

7. make a new layer
set your FG color to white
use the SentGFXCldGrng1-5 once on the left side
then rectangle select the entire layer and copy it
make a new layer, paste it in and flip it (shift-f)
set on normal at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic7v2.png[/image]

8. make a new layer
your FG color should still be white
use the SentGFXCldGrng1-7 once on the right side
then rectangle select it and copy
make a new layer, paste it in and flip it
set on normal or grain merge at 100%

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic8.png[/image]

if you skipped step six it should look kind of like this

[image]http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/alphaberzerker/Sigs/Tut1/tut1pic9.png[/image]

I know it may look kind of plain in the center, but thats where your render goes lol
lets see some examples!!

NO RIPPING!!!

@guardianX lol i know but its only a BG tut so wut'd u expect thanks
@master thanks

Sonicbeam -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 2:18:33)

This is actually a pretty good tut.
The only bit I don't like are the blue lines it ruins the blending.
I'll make an example soon.

alphaberzerker -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 8:26:17)

alrite
as i went back i noticed that as well, i've never made just the BG b4. i used the blue lines as coloring for later, you set them to overlay or something lik that once you've added in your render and they change colors a bit to match the render, or atleast it worked that way 4 me.

GaurdianX -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 15:40:27)

my result

Brownie -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 18:02:18)

I'm new to installing brushes, so, HOw do I do it?

should i just stick em in C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\brushes?

master -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 18:07:48)

@above- Thats what I do. But first open the brushes then file>extract all.

Brownie -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 18:09:20)

Thanks, and I'll post a trial once I make one.

alphaberzerker -> RE: [gimp] Superamazing BG tut (4/24/2008 19:31:33)

awesome thanks brownie
i added a few things to the tut, and provided an example wut it would look like w/o the blue lines just for you sonic beam XD lol

Brownie -> RE: [gimp] BG tut (4/25/2008 23:25:12)

I didn't download the last brush set, but Because I improvised, I made it look like a person, and without a render!!!
Take a looK!!!

alphaberzerker -> RE: [gimp] BG tut (4/27/2008 20:11:54)

Sonicbeam -> RE: [gimp] BG tut (4/28/2008 1:54:31)

Here is a another version of that tag you can add to the examples if you want.

[image]http://i32.tinypic.com/34r69le.png[/image]

i didnt do #5 and i use some diffrent brushes but i think it looks great

Bling bla -> RE: [gimp] BG tut (4/30/2008 2:01:27)

Netrix: OMAIGWASH! Netrix is back!!!

Anyway, not to get off-topic, the blue lines seem to be distracting. Without it, the BG tag will surely be uber!

Netrix -> RE: [gimp] BG tut (4/30/2008 2:25:33)

yep im back ^^
i was never good with text xD

Sonicbeam -> RE: [gimp] BG tut (4/30/2008 3:29:21)
