Well, you may know these, you may not. 1.Colored vine or sparks brush: Scroll down in your brush selection with all the options and click on color from gradient. Vines brush is very good for vector-like tags. If you want one color, change your FG and BG color to the same thing and change the gradient to "FG to BG"~Sneevil 2.Same sized sparks brush:Take any circle tool and press "Apply jitter," then change the rate to 3.00 and start brushing 3.Recoloring Thanks to Master Ridley on GIMPtalk for this one...even though I've not personally know him. Make a new transparent layer, color around the render/object you wish to recolor. Don't try to be too careful because in the end, it doesn't work with black or white. When you are done coloring, set the layer to hue or color. Viola, you just got a masterful recoloring. 4.Wen Su's Special Effect IF your Use ballpack (park?) effect and use the brush blob and set it at a different radius than set the layer to either dodge or screen or soft light or even lighten only you can get a nice effect~Wen Su 5.Vector Render To get a great vector like render you can get any normal render, then use the color from gradient option from before. Copy the render you want, go to your brushes and you'll see that the render is now saved as clipboard. Select clipboard and start brushing. 6.Smudging tips If you wish to have a chaotic effect, use the vine brush at a 2.0 spacing and start smudging. If you wish to have blended smudging, use a circle brush at any size at a rate of 2.0 and start smudging wherever you want. 7.Vectored Background Make your render layer or any other layer that is not needed not visible by clicking the eye near the layer in the layers dialog. You can access this by Ctrl+L. Then go to Edit<Copy Visible. Then, make a new transparent layer, after that paste in the background. Displace the new layer and then Map<Displace. Displace it to the settings you like. Then set it to overlay or screen and lower the opacity. Erase any parts you do not like. 8.Glowing Make a new layer called "Glow" then use a circle brush and brush around the side of the render and then Gaussian Blur that layer at 20 for both. ~SonicBeam 9.Bucket Fill Shortcut Did you know you can fill selection with a color without changing into the Bucket Fill tool? Simply drag the color from your palette into the layer to fill it! This was one of the advices I found in gimptalk.com. I forgot the name though.. Anyway, credits to him!~Bling Bla 10.Changing the color scheme If a tag has crazy colors that don't match and you want to change the color scheme, make new layers or copy visible layers. Put on gradient maps and mess with the layers and opacity. Make sure it's under the text+border layers.~Trake 11.Outlined Text If you wish to add an outline to your text because it seems boring, try duplicating the layer, alpha to select on your duplicated layer and then press Edit<Stroke Selection and set it to 2-4. Then set your second layer below your text. 12.Clip Masking Text Are you tired of the same old monotone text? Type your text and do Alpha To Select. Then Use any tool you would like and copy it. Go to your brushes selection and what you copied should be on as "Clipboard" brush. Brush around the Alpha To Select text as much as you would like. 13.Putting On A C4D Find a c4d on PR or in a pack. Then download it. Once you got them, you can copy it and paste it onto a tag. Then set it to different modes. Some are screen, overlay, soft light, addition, and subtraction. There are more, expieriment! A good tut that's background is made of c4ds would be Zenron's Distant tutorial. ~Trake 14.Messed Up Rendering? Rendering an image from a stock using the pentool? Just about to finish, but accidentally switched to another tool using a shortcut, and now you have to star all over? Never fear! Open your pentool tab (dialogs>create new dock>layers channels and paths) and double click the option of your latest pentooling and voila! ~Cysero's Orb 15.Watery Background Start with new image of desired dimensions>Go through Filters > Render > Lava, a new window will appear>Create new Layer> select gradient named Horizon 2>Enjoy! ~Rambo 16.Transparent Borders Layer<New Layer Edit<Select All Edit<Stroke Selection At this point, select black as your foreground color and put the Stroke Selection to 10 pixels. Go back to stroke selection and change your foreground color to white and change the pixel size to 8. Repeat this method but lower the pixel size by 2 each time you use Stroke Selection until you get to 0 pixels. When you finished, change the layer to mode to "Overlay" I'll add more as I find out more
