Julina's Wish
Day in. Day out. Years of abuse ran together in her memory. Even after four hundred years, the experience haunted her. Nightmares each week disrupted her sleep.
That had changed recently. Two years ago, she had been summoned from her governmental research to integrate technology and magic. That day, she met somebody she hadn't seen in centuries. Somebody she hated.
He had freed her from her enslavement all those years ago. For a few months, they were lovers. But it didn't last. He lost his sanity one day and murdered thousands in the month that followed. Feeling unsafe and betrayed, she had left him when he came back to his senses.
Two years ago, they had been brought back together on very bad terms. To her surprise, he had been waiting for her all that time, and love blossomed once again. A year later, they had married.
Ever since then, the nightmares had been declining in frequency. Although they were just as terrible as before, she now had a loving set of arms to hold her and comfort her when she awoke from such terror. She felt in a way that for several decades had eluded her.
She felt happy cuddled up against him in their bed. And unlike most lovers, she and her husband had the ability to spend eternity together in life.
She desperately hoped that they would.
