Chapter One : Hot Chocolate

Frost was falling from the deep, blue sky, rummaging through the green foliage of winter trees. I was saunting, hands tightly tucked into my coat pocket. It was Winter, the coldest of all seasons. The sidewalked was scraped clean of gum by the white snow. Surprizing, really. In Summer, everything was hot, and the ground with gum scattered amok. You could feel the silence of Winter. There were no cars rushing by, no gangs of teenagers running everywhere, no sounds of birds chirping. Nothing. Nothing, but the thrashing of snow under my boot.

I was just at a coffee shop before, drinking hot chocolate like there was no tommorrow. And for all I know, there could be not. The thought of having to do housework once I reached home was bad enough, but having to walk through impossible weather is worse. Snow stuck to my boots, snow pelted my hooded head, snow was impossible to deal with. I wondered how long it would take untill I reached home.

* * *

"Zack! Your home! What took so long?! I thought I said for you to come home before seven! It's nine! You could've caught a cold! Or worse!" said a familiar voice when I entered my home.

"Sorry Mom, I was tired, so I stayed at a coffee shop for hot choco n' a buiscut." replied I, pulling off my gloves and coat.

I sat at my desk where I usually went after a cold day. I was waiting for hot chocolate after a long day in the cold winter night.

"Here's your hot choco honey. Well, since you just drank one, I'm thinkin' you don't need this, do you?" she said sarcastically, handing me the drink.

"Haha, very funny." I said, sipping from the warm hot chocolate. It seemed to revive me from the horrors of the cold.

After two refills, I told her that I was going to visit my friend, Lucy. And so I did. Yet another hour do I have to walk through the cold night of Winter.

Chapter Two : Murder

I arrived at the front of the door. The door was usually smooth, but now it was cracked. Everything looked so grim. Than I knocked on the door. Nobody answered. I knocked again. Yet again, nobody answered. This time I pounded on the door. Yet again... nobody answered. I walked toward the side of the house, to peek through the window. It was especially dark inside. The cupboards were wrecked, the tables were split in half, the walls sliced with marks of three claws. It looks like it was raided by terrorists. I smashed the window open, and forsted glass flew everywhere. My hands were bleeding, but I didn't care. My friend was in trouble. I jumped in the window, and scanned the house. There was a light in Lucy's bedroom. I tip-toed to the kitchen, and picked up the sharpest knife I found. Then I went out of the kitchen, and stood in front of her bedroom door, knife ready at hand.

I kicked the door open, and saw Lucy tied up, and some sort of ninja in a white cloak, with long claws. I wasted no time. I jamp ontop of him, and stabbed the knife through his cold heart. There was no blood. There was a blue liquid substance. I suggest it was blood, only a special blood. A blood, of a cold heart. Then, I twisted my knife harder, thrusting it through his chest. The creature died with no last words.

"Lucy! What happened?!" I asked, collapsing onto the floor, knife falling out of my hands.

"There's no time! Untie me! We have to get outt'a here!" cried Lucy, being untied by me.

Chapter Three : Perilous Journey

We both scavanged anything we could find in the house. We took knives, food, water, money, anything that was important. We put them all in a large hiking backpack. We together walked toward the broken door.

We walked down several blocks. It was still heavily snowing, which was fortunate that Lucy had an extra coat for me. Though we were warm, my heart was cold with guilt. What will Mom do after she finds out I'm gone? Why am I going away? I should be home, drinking hot chocolate from a great, warm mug, surrounding the fireplace with Mom. But no. I had to foolishly go on this risky journey that I might not come back alive from. I am so stupid.

We finally found a taxi. It stopped on the white sidewalk.

"You kids need a ride?" said the driver, opening the back seat for us to go in.

We jumped in. The black leather seats were so smooth and comfortable. I felt like sleeping in the warmth of the car.

"So, where do you wannah go?" asked the driver, looking back.

"The border of Canada." said Lucy, handing him a hundred dollar bill.

The driver's eyes sparkled with joy. He didn't even ask where kids get this kind of money. He just drove, north.

Chapter Four : The Gathering

After what seemed to be forever in the taxi, we got off, at the border of Canada. It wasa frozen, barren wasteland. The snow doesn't just fall on you, it thumps you, hard on the head. It was cold, so very cold. It felt so strange, being in the cold hard climates, with only a friend, no parents, go guardians. It felt so frightening. It felt so cold.

Lucy was shivering, holding on to me. I was hiking up the steep hill, hood zipped tight. We felt like a pair of snowmen. We were walking slowly, covered in white snow.

* * *

We were still going, after many hours. We could see a light, but we could not reach it. Every time we thought we were closer, we were further. The light just shimmered, teasing us. As we were struggling to keep on path, the snow ate us alive. A massive boulder of snow flew across the midnight sky, thumping me on the back of the head, making me tumble down the hill, towards the light. Lucy seemed to follow me, struggling down the hill. I struggled to get on my feet, and I was unsuccessful the first two tries. We kept waddling like penguins through the snow.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, the light shone across the snowy desert, making my eyes ache. Snow boomed in front of me, flying in the air like frozen dragons. A spear was in the air, soaring straight at me.

Suddenly, brown, crisp leaves fell softly ontop of the snowly ground, all the snow melted, and great, lifely plants grew. The leaves destroyed the spear. The guards were tied up by the vines of the plants, and fire burning up all the snow.

"I will avenage HIM!" screamed a raspy voice.

Suddenly, a burning figure soared out of the sky, fist filled with sparkling fire. It smashed that fist against the now - dry ground, creating a massive explosion, revealing a white, floating figure in the air. The burning figure whirled up to the white figure, smacking it with a fistfull of fire. There was no explosion. There were no screams. There was only silence.

The white figure enclosed the burning figure's fist with a small wrapping of snow - white, cold snow.

"Never shall you touch me. Summer... It is Winter! You are nearly powerless! Fool!" said the white figure, blowing him back with a massive blizzard of snow, sending him flying into the midnight sky.

The white figure appeared more clearly, almost in front of my face.

"Ahhh... So you are the Zack? Eh?" teased the the figure, holding his clawed gloves to my neck. "My name is Winter. You shall address me as, Lord Winter."

Then, two figures emerged from the shadows, each holding an unique weapon. One was wielding a sword, tightly wrapped in vines, and at the point was a magestic rose. The other was gripping tightly to two daggers, orange, thin as leaves, yet hard as diamonds.

"Zack, get away from him! Come to Autumn and I!" pleaded the other man. "I am Spring. She is Autumn. She... the fire one.. is Summer."

Autumn whispered something to Spring, and she went off to find Summer. Then, Spring floated towards me. Just as he was about to give me something, Winter tried to slice Spring with his claw. He missed. Then he smashed the ground with his claw, and two large snow creatures bellowed out of the ground.

The snow creatures went after Zack and Lucy, and they killed us.

Almost.

Spring, sword first, flew right through the first monster's chest, throwing his sword to the other after. Then Spring threw me a glove, with sharpened claws. Really sharpened.

"Put them on! KILL WINTER NOW! screamed Spring, holding winter down.

I put on my gloves, and I felt a warm feeling inside my chest. Something was tickling my heart. I felt at home with the snow, I felt like a ruler. I felt powerful.

"NOW!" reminded Spring, struggling to keep Winter down.

I flew fast, split - second fast, at Winter, stabbing my claw straight through his heart. He turned to snow.

"This claw... Is it possible?" I asked, gazing at it.

"It is your responsibility now. You are Winter. There was once a great Winter, one of great kindness and tenderness. He was murdered by this Winter. Now you must take his place, as Winter Lord." said Spring. "This may have happened very fast for you. This maybe the horror of your life, but you have to take the place. Winter is still out there."

"I thought I had killed him. Just now!" I beckoned, looking at the dead Winter.

"This is not winter. Watch." said Spring, thrusting his sword into his heart, deeper.

Winter then turned to snow. It was not real. The real, evil Winter is still out there. I must find him.

"Die." said a voice, holding on to my neck with a horrid, white claw.

The End.
