Riddles of Draconic Identities
By Genoclysm

It is said that dragons enjoy riddles. How good are you at riddling? Can you figure out the identities of each of these dragons?

+ From Various Sources

Blackened clouds near share my name.
A mountainous horde is my claim to fame.
Invulnerable as I thought myself to be,
Just one single arrow set my soul free.

My spirit had fled its earthly harbor,
But my body moves for spirits of arbor.
The air grows thick with organic dust;
The forest sees this punishment just.

Among good dragons, I have highest station.
My boons often are cause for elation.
My skin is more precious than even gold.
My hide is quite lustrous to behold.

In my shielded armor, there is no chink.
Against my might, all do shrink.
If you think I'm possible to seize,
I'll boil you with the churning seas.

+ From Artix Entertainment

They say my ego is much too high ...
When I arrive, your death is nigh.
Should you by miracle bear the load,
My wrath and fury shall explode.

My power is greatly known and revered.
I refuse to bend to anyone's wyrd.
By luck I might just choose to help,
Or leave you to your own, young whelp.

A business venture I do seek,
Involving preying on the weak.
Though it's easiest to grab the scrawny,
Customers pay more for the big and brawny.

He fled the slayer and proved the faster,
But my servant couldn't free his master.
I towered above the warm lava flow,
Basking a millennium in their glow.

Nameless they say? They never ask.
When I they see, they forget the task.
My visage inspires fear and awe.
Nothing lessens the burn from my maw.

Smaug.

No doubt about it.

How about this?

They all fear me, and rightfully so.
I am the embodiment of destruction.
The elements all obey my call.
Where i go all hope dies.
As eternal as the world itself, i may never die.
Beneath my power the planet shall crumble.

For the sake of other readers, I put your answer in spoiler tags. You are entirely correct. Of all the riddles, I was most compelled to make that one as its source is what led me to enjoy riddles in the first place. ~Geno

Nickwright, your third one is incorrect, try again. Nice attempt though. I can see your train of thought there.

Xehanort,

Tiamat? Thakhisis(sp?)?

xehanort -> RE: Issue 36 - Riddles of Draconic Identities (Genoclysm) (11/20/2008 15:44:51)

Not quite.

Perhaps i should add an additonal line to make it a bit easier.

They all fear me, and rightfully so.
I am the embodiment of destruction.
The elements all obey my call.
Where i go all hope dies.
As eternal as the world itself, i may never die.
Beneath my power the planet shall crumble.
So great was my hate, that the land itself could not withstand it.
And in the dark pit born from my rage the dead shall wail.
Come darkness heed my call, devour the minds and souls of those who would stand in my way.

Someone should be able to figure out the identity of the one i speak off.
Thought i can understand why it would be hard to do so because of the issue of not being very well known.

Here's one:

Through wraith and misery I was born.
One who knows naught by scorn.
Through others, I have grown,
and was forced to slay one of my own.
Fighting with my master, my partner, my friend,
doomed to battle until the end.

Oh, and no one's answered this one.

Can i post a riddle?

Who doth fight me? None shall dare.
Enveloped in a burning flare.
My Fury you shall surely feel,
Then become my next meal.

You did a great job with writing and compiling these riddles, Genoclysm! I like the use of one of

J.R.R. Tolkien's (knowing the name might give people a hint, so I "spoiler"ed it.)
Dragons.

Apocalypse -> RE: Issue 36 - Riddles of Draconic Identities (Genoclysm) (11/22/2008 0:01:08)

Any takers for mine? It's not from AE, for those wondering.

I also think I figured out this one.

When I they see, they forget the task.
My visage inspires fear and awe.
Nothing lessens the burn from my maw.

Is it the Great Frost Wyrm?

Genoclysm -> RE: Issue 36 - Riddles of Draconic Identities (Genoclysm) (11/22/2008 0:48:21)

That does almost fit, but the last line prevents that from being a possible answer.

Apocalypse -> RE: Issue 36 - Riddles of Draconic Identities (Genoclysm) (11/22/2008 11:58:04)

Yeah...but sometimes people link "Ice" and "Burns" sort of like Dry Ice. Oh well, better keep guessing!

spoiler:

I'm running out of ideas. Maybe it's Akriloth's son?(Who I believe, is currently nameless)

Could it be the great void wyrm. After all nothing protects from element x.

By the way, has anyone managed to figure mine out yet?

Genoclysm -> RE: Issue 36 - Riddles of Draconic Identities (Genoclysm) (11/23/2008 15:56:48)

Someone finally got it.
