Brownie -> [GIMP] A nice, (possibly) simple tut. (1/13/2009 23:37:51)

My first tut.

But so you have an idea, here's the result I'm basing it off.
There may be a few unnecessary steps...

1) Create a new image. I used the default size. Black Background.

2) New Layer. Get your Brushes...I used AdHeroRxns. I'm sorry, I don't have a link. Colour: white. Brush over the picture, but leave some black.

3) New layer. Change Colour to black. Brush again, but leave white.

4) Add your render. I'm using Light Yagami. And position.

5) Duplicate your render and move one underneath the black brush Layer. 50 Gaussian Blur. (Optional)
Not puttin a pic here...Cause it doesn't really have a huge effect.
6) Dupe original again. 25 Gaussian Blur the lower one.

7) New Layer. Gradient "Dark 1". Select half the image with a box tool. Gradient.

8) Set that layer to Grain Merge. Grain merge can be found through: Layers > Mode > Grain merge.

9) New Layer. Invert the selection (CTRL + I) to the other side of the image. Gradient again.

10) Set to Grain Extract.

11) Kind-of bright, yes? Grab a circle brush and erase what you feel like.

12) Since merging the two would cause us to lose this effect, go to Select>None. Blure down the centre on both Grain layers.

13) Add a Border and text and you're done! (Note: I didn't add a border!)
Just look at the result for the pic.

Hope to be seeing results soon!
