Traveler -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:03:21)

Finally! I only saw the other puzzles once they were solved. At least with this one I can collaborate.

That being said... unlike with the others, I have no clue where to start.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:10:04)

Heh, sorry, Traveler. Nearly done.

spoiler:

This is what I have:

FALERIN ADMIRAL AMADA ZORBAK THE GODS ARE IN THE NEBULA

I don't know how it's supposed to be unscrambled. I'll try. This may be the final message, though: here it is edited.

spoiler:

"Falerin, Admiral Amada, Zorbak: The gods are in the nebula." Or perhaps:

"Falerin, Admiral Amada: The gods are in the nebula." --Zorbak
Because the word ZORBAK appears in the last word. It's interesting that both Falerin and Eldron have lied in their clues: Falerin said the rail was four, and Eldron said that none of these three would be involved. Eenteresting.

spoiler:

It is noteworthy that, by removing the names hidden in the message, you get the actual "message" part. Also, although the names are split up among the other words, the words of the message are self-contained: TFHALEE has "the," GROIDNS has "gods," AADRMIE has "are," IRAN has "in," THE has "the" (no, really?!), and NZEOBRBUALKA has "nebula."

Traveler -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:21:34)

Great job, Nex! I agree with you: the second interpretation looks more plausible.

spoiler:

About Eldron lying, I wouldn't say so much. He just made an hypothesis: Zorbak isn't prone to use codes, so that seemed to make him an unlikely source of the message. That he seems to be the one who wrote it doesn't mean that Eldron was lying. Simply that Zorbak is being unusually careful, which probably says a lot about the importance of the message.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:23:49)

Mhm. It was also probably to give us a clue: if he hadn't said Zorbak, I would have tried all sorts of letter substitutions and ciphers before just thinking that
spoiler:

the words were intermeshed.

Traveler -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:32:25)

By the way, this also tells us another thing: that Zorbak will most likely play a part in WF. Which is not unexpected (he is in all of the games and is AE's resident Ensamble Darkhorse), but it is good news anyway.

la0o9 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:33:53)

yeah i think you're right:
spoiler:

just because zorbak is the most deceptive friendly NPC doesn't make him not likely to use codes to send an important message right, and eldron too is not lying, his sense of guessing is just not very good
spoiler:

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:34:01)

Mm. Another thing I thought of was that it could say
spoiler:

The gods are in the Zorbak nebula

Meaning
spoiler:

Zorbak somehow got a nebula named after him
, but I don't think so because of the reasons above.

Talahar -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:52:19)

Man, you guys are quick with the solutions.
I don't even realize that there was a new challenge well after you guys solved it.
I wonder how they'll do the final "win something" riddle.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 10:54:46)

This one was much faster than the others. The first was 40 minutes, the second a few hours... this one was 14:59. :P

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 13:15:55)

spoiler:

I think Eldron's musings were part of the clue. The names were meant to be "eliminated" as he said, leaving the rest of the message that you guys decoded. Although what the message actually MEANS... very mysterious. I have no clue! Nice work, that must be some kind of record time [:D]

TreadLight -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 13:39:24)

Oh, you guys are so lucky. >:( Getting to do the next puzzle right before I get home. :,(

Though, it seems it was quite an easy one. I hope that if we have one tomorrow, it'll be quite a challenge. ;D

I'll see you n IRC! (As Miles)

Talahar -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 13:47:00)

if we don't get a new puzzle some new screenshots would be great.... :P
then again, it's friday... we'll get a pantsload of AE games releases today... :D

thanks to warpforce i started playing AQ again.... i stopped when i discovered DF, way back then....
thankfully they archived the devourer saga quite conveniently... good way to catch up on what the fuzz is all about :P

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 13:59:29)

Ahh. Of course, L. Very good. Updating now.

Megaket Genevus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:18:23)

Wow. You guys sure are geniuses. I wouldn't be able to decipher it without a clue or two, seven cups of coffee, fifteen redbull+burn+pepsi, and lots of candy by my side. And, ofcourse, 48 hours minimum.

tomy 2222 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:30:52)

wait a min how much puzzles have we done so far???? i couldnt help[:(][:(]

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:32:11)

tomy 2222: See this thread.

tomy 2222 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:35:15)

so we already solved even the 3rd one?

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:41:06)

*nod* I solved it in fifteen minutes this morning. It was by far the easiest yet, but that was mitigated by the solution being quite puzzling itself, as Genoclysm pointed out.

tomy 2222 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:43:03)

ok, hopes they release a mystery when some people are awake lol, just solved the third one by myself, just to see if i could solve it fast, and i did it wooohooo im not stupid![:D]

Eldron -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:46:12)

I just don't get it. With everything going on Warlic still has time to work on machines that don't work!

For example: His latest cypher machine is totally messed up. I punched in a 2 and it displayed a 4, so I punched in a 4 and it displayed a 16! What's up with that?

I asked him about it and he sent me a parchment with a punch of numbers on it. I'm lost! Maybe I'll send it to Falerin, after all, misery loves company!

16 1 324 121 169 1 16 16 25 324 361

361 25 9 324 25 400 144 81 25 361

225 196 256 441 324 49 225 361

tomy 2222 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:48:16)

ohh got something ovbius

Vivi -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 14:55:16)

spoiler:

The numbers are all perfect squares if that matters at all.

4 1 18 11 13 1 4 4 5 18 19

19 5 3 18 5 20 12 9 5 19

15 14 16 21 18 7 15 19

This is what I'm thinking:

dark madders

secret lies

on purgos

...Dark Madder is a person maybe? And his secret lies on Purgos? Or are the statements not related to each other? Hm.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 15:04:21)

spoiler:

Dark ladders secret lies on Purgos.

Ah. Well done, phoenix. I may have confused some letters.

EDIT: Yup, you're right. It's m rather than l. Nice job.

tomy 2222 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 15:04:35)

woot we did it nex is posting it right now ohh heh hes above me lol

love IRC!

Vivi -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (5/29/2009 15:05:53)

spoiler:

I think you might have made a mistake, the fifth number is 169, square root of that is 13 and L is not the 13th letter in the alphabet.
