Ok here's a funny riddle I found while "surfing" the web: Ok so a visitor goes to a madhouse to ask the Director what the standards are for a normal person.

"Here's how it goes", starts the Director," we fill up a bathtub and offer the patient a teaspoon, a bucket and a teacup. We then ask the patient to empty the bathtub".

So.. Would you use a) the spoon b) the bucket or c) the cup?

"Oh I get it", responds the visitor, "a normal person would use a bucket as it is larger than a spoon and a cup".

What did the Director say?

spoiler:

He said:"No, a normal person would pull the plug".

<<< This riddle came from this web: Braingle. To avoid plagiarism, I used my own words.>>>

There is a man found alive in a tree beside the lakeshore in northern Ontario after the remains of a forest fire. He is soaking wet and in a bathing suit. He did not climb up the tree. How did he get there?

spoiler:

He was swimming in a the lake before the fire. When he saw the fire he swam for shore to escape before the fire engulfed the lake. He didn't make it to shore but a waterbombing plane scooped him up along with the water he was swimming in and dumped him on the fire. he landed in the tree.

Pretty simple.

@save the penguins.

i dont know what the director said but I would just pull the plug.

Shreder -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (11/22/2009 22:58:08)

^That is such an overused riddle, although in most versions it is a scuba diver not a swimmer.

spoiler:

He was sucked up by the planes/helicopters collecting water to dump on the fire.

Heartless, you missed a part of the riddle out. You were supposed to say that the man locked the doors when going.

Anyway, I have one:

The further you go, the more you leave behind. What is it?

spoiler:

footsteps

This was probably done already, but I don't have time to check.

I went into the woods and got it.
I sat down to seek it.
I came home because I couldn't find it.
What is it?

spoiler:

A splinter.

A woman shoots her husband.
Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes.
Finally, she hangs him.
But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together.
How can this be?

spoiler:

The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry.

Brain teaser! XD

spoiler:

Trick question! Roosters dont lay eggs! x)

seventy two -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (1/25/2010 0:10:44)

@Zaier I have heard that one too many times it is obviously neither.

I suck at coming up with riddles but I may edit one in later.

Nabsol -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (1/31/2010 15:33:14)

I warn you. This is an incredibly hard riddle, and is even said to be the Hardest logic puzzle ever.

Three gods A, B, and C are called, in some order, True, False, and Random. True always speaks truly, False always speaks falsely, but whether Random speaks truly or falsely is a completely random matter. Your task is to determine the identities of A, B, and C by asking three yes-no questions; each question must be put to exactly one god. The gods understand English, but will answer all questions in their own language, in which the words for yes and no are 'da' and 'ja', in some order. You do not know which word means which.

Note:
It could be that some god gets asked more than one question (and hence that some god is not asked any question at all).
What the second question is, and to which god it is put, may depend on the answer to the first question. (And of course similarly for the third question.)
Whether Random speaks truly or not should be thought of as depending on the flip of a coin hidden in his brain: if the coin comes down heads, he speaks truly; if tails, falsely.
Random will answer 'da' or 'ja' when asked any yes-no question.

A man builds a house with four walls facing north. He looks out the window and sees a bear. What color is the bear?

Alpha Atom -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/3/2010 16:18:21)

One of the oldest ones in the book >.>

The bear is white.

Superemo -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/3/2010 18:09:05)

Wrong. There are no bears at the South Pole.

Shreder -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/3/2010 19:29:45)

I posted this one a few pages back, but no one even tried guessing, so I'm going to re-post it.

A man pushing his car stops in front of a hotel. On arriving there he instantly realizes he is bankrupt. How?

Silverapoclypsedemon -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/13/2010 20:36:01)

Different answer that still works:
spoiler:

He got drunk and his friends put him there.

spoiler:

He's pushing his car...

Shreder -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/13/2010 20:39:07)

^Wrong.

Silverapoclypsedemon -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/13/2010 20:53:39)

There are 2 birds beside 2 birds, 2 birds beside those 2 birds, 2 birds behind 2 birds and 2 birds in front of 2 birds.

How many birds?

spoiler:

4

@above Also, I'm pretty sure it said that you have to put the answer in spoiler tags... Yeah:

    A simple solution:
    Stranger: Serial killer
    Cause of Death: Shot

Shreder -> RE: The Official Riddle Thread (2/13/2010 21:15:43)

    Fine. Here is the answer:

    spoiler:

He is playing Monopoly, using the car playing piece, and stops in front of someone's hotel to find himself bankrupt.
