which is rising, but has not yet risen all the way.

Re: Mirai....for my lightning abilities such as Lightning charge and Lightning flow, would I assume that the gauntlet would make my character tire out more?

That would be my thinking, as they seem to be magical abilities integral to Chad, rather than externally directed spells. It depends a bit on whether they are supposed to be ‘magical’ abilities or ‘natural’ ones- an electric eel in real life, for example, obviously wouldn’t be affected by the gauntlet, but has some capacity to do things vaguely similar to your ‘lightning flow’ ability. Kalen’s own capacity to discharge electricity from his own body is supposed to be a ‘natural’ ability (a somewhat ridiculously extreme version of the real life phenomenon of a static electricity shock). That’s why he can only discharge once from his own electrical energies every 30 minutes- to at least give a passing nod to the restrictions of physics in the real world. All Kalen’s 'self-control' abilities- healing, electrical discharge, are supposed to be non-magical in nature.

His abilities were meant to be based upon natural energies, only enhanced by magical abilities. For his Lightning flow, his natural energies become enhanced so much that it temporary paralyzes that limb until that lost natural energy is restored or replace, which I was assuming wouldn't take too long as the natural current within him would cycle through and fill the gap. (or so that's my reasoning).

And my post is up.

xaxtoo -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/21/2009 23:21:34)

Ah the repercussions of attacking everyone at once.

Waiting on you to post ont.

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 0:26:00)

Okay, I gotta turn in for the night, post will be up tomorrow evening.

TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 15:36:52)

Omf, FMA, you're surrounded.

The pyramid has four vertices: the four fire spheres; six sides: the lines of flame connecting each sphere to each of the other spheres; and four faces, each triangular, completely open.

Of course, you're still surrounded by fahr. And by now you should realize that Roman's STRENGTH is in his absolute control over said fahr.

Please to not rush ahead with posts without a response from me, 'kay? Whatever you do next, Roman is going to do something as well.

Also! In case you were wondering, "nascent thunderstorm" means it only just beginning to really develop. Keep in mind that no more than, perhaps, two to three minutes has passed since it was the fog was charged with electricity. It's not exactly going to become a raging thunderstorm that quickly. Post accordingly.

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 17:10:01)

This is so disappointing. Right now, the only active people in Spike are myself, Xaxtoo, Mirai, and 2009light. That makes what, four people. How sad, how very sad.

Anyways, my post is coming soon. Soon as in in an hour or two.

Edit: Post is up!

dragon -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 18:47:43)

Actually ont, I'm just searching for a battle...is everyone involved in the 2 on 1 battle ok with me jumping in the fray to even things out?

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 18:49:13)

Personally, I'm okay with it. Heh.

The Extinguisher -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 21:22:46)

TD, let me personally thank you for getting me within close, difficult to escape from, quarters with Ko. This battle is going to be bloody.

omf -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 21:27:51)

I won't be there for long :o

TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/22/2009 21:32:00)

So you THINK. Do NOT successfully escape the pyramid of fire in one post. You can make an ATTEMPT. Doing anything further than that WILL amount to bunnying.

Thank you.

Mirai -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 2:48:16)

Re: “is everyone involved in the 2 on 1 battle ok with me jumping in the fray to even things out?”

Cool with me, even if my character may be disappointed...

Ont

Re: Mirai, I have a question. My character's katana has a magical sun insignia on its blade that currently stores some amount of light for him to use. When you fight me (I assume you will), will your gauntlet start leaching at the stored light? Oh, and my shield defends a bit against magic attacks. So, if the gauntlet does leach on the light stored in the sun insignia, will his shield slow it down slightly?

The Gauntlet won’t have a significant effect on light energy stored in the katana, unless you release it as a spell to use against Kalen (or within a 6ft area of the gauntlet). I didn’t want the gauntlet to be too powerful, so it’ll only have an effect on weapons or magical items over a long period of time (an RP which lasts for several days, for example)- hence Kalen himself not carrying any magical weapons.

Cool- that suggests to me that he should slowly tire when using his magical enhancements in the gauntlet’s presence, but not significantly. Something which was actually powered by magic, such as a construct, would feel the gauntlet’s effects more potently.

omf -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 11:39:51)

TD, you make it sound as if I bunny everything or that I am completely new to the world of RPing. Please don't make silly assumptions like that, it's not very nice.

TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 14:12:33)

I'm not making any assumptions. I'm giving out warnings. There's been enough of that kind of bunnying in the other arenas, and it's a sneaky sort of bunnying that not everybody realizes IS bunnying, that I felt it would be prudent to issue such a warning, so that there would be no need for recriminations and editing of posts later.

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 15:51:19)

Though, TD, I suggest you should tell him what should happen if he tries to escape, so that it can be done in only one post. That way there's less clutter. An action so small really shouldn't take over 1 post.

TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 17:02:46)

It's not that simple, unfortunately. Roman has no autonomous powers. He doesn't DO Fire and Forget spells, he has no summons of any kind, nothing that does not require his own, personal control. This is because, when you're a fire mage and live on a great big prairie, you don't let even the smallest iota of your power out of your reach. To do so could and probably would spell disaster for an area miles and miles around. To that end, it must be in my post that any reaction to an escape attempt occurs, as it will be Roman's doing, rather than a built-in response from the pyramid of fire.

In addition, omf has plenty to work with. There's the reaction to the rather sudden appearance of the pyramid of fire, the apparent lack of success of his series of attacks, and a reaction to Michael's advance as well. That will rather nicely fill out a combat post.

Mirai -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 18:14:21)

Posted: Kalen remembering a version of 'the prisoner's dilemma' puzzle, responding to Blaze's greeting, and-after appropriate warning- launching an initial attack.

A note about the two throwing knives referred to as speeding well wide of Blaze. Despite them apparently being thrown off target, and Kalen acting as if he's disgusted with his aim, both blades are in fact perfectly placed.

In a (mildly ridiculous) display of accurate blade throwing, they are deliberately aimed to ricochet off individual spikes, then off the arena wall, and then end up flying diagonally into either side of the back of Blaze's neck (if he doesn't manage to dodge or block them).

In addition, Kalen's dagger is coming front-on towards Blaze, so he's actually got 3 blades coming in from 3 different directions, 2 of which he may not be aware of. It's kind of like a trick shot in pool or snooker, only with knives...

Plus, it gave me a chance to RP the crowd getting annoyed with Kalen.

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 18:26:50)

Urg... Oh, and my shirt is worn under the armor, so no shirt gets wripped. Just burnt armor.

Oh yes, how far is Kalen from Blaze when he through the dagger?

Ronin Of Dreams -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 20:18:34)

I am incredibly disappointed in activity this year and the prevalence of Idle. I'm apparently going to have to be lenient, compared to the Finals and usual practice of last year, which idle-cuts every three days. So, after noon tomorrow, there will be a purge every 4 days of the Dropoffs at noon. Next purge will be the 28th at noon, and last warnings on the 27th by 9PM. Consistent warnings will not be tolerated. Seriously.

The following competitors from Spike is cut due to Non-Posting:
Glazier Van as played by Varin (Spike) - On a personal note, I've neither seen nor heard from Varin since signups. I'm hoping he is well, as I know his RL situation left little time for pursuits of the RP variety.

The following have until noon tomorrow to post or PM myself with reasons or be cut as part of the Idle-Dead:
Sky
Misty Drew as played by Rayzer (Last post: 17th)
Cryoface as played by qb (Last post: 17th) -- Excused for the idle deadline after receipt of PM, post required after idle-kill deadline of relevant, and SAME, roadblock as DH.
Lisa Hunter as played by demonhunter (Last post: 18th) -- Excused for the idle deadline after receipt of PM, post required after idle-kill deadline of relevant roadblock.

Spike
Sir Giovanni Inge as played by Calcon30 (Last post: 15th)
Zypher as played by Voltar (Last post: 15th)
Logain Dedracio as played by dragon (Last post: 16th) -- Excused for the idle deadline after receipt of PM, post still required ASAP.

The following have resigned already:
Sky
Nightly as played by Nightly

Spike
Mio Kaze-Latona as played by Kuro Banshee
Esir Prus as played by AryaMechKnight

Edit: A reminder, the Idle-Dead, once confirmed, may be killed off at whim. Withdrawn characters may only be killed off with the express permission of their controlling roleplayer.

dragon -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 20:50:00)

I've notified Ronin of the reasons for my character being idle, but pending his reply, I'd like to continue with my character's entrance into the battle. With permission from both sides of the 2 on 1, I will assume there will be no disagreement, and I'll get a post up tonight.

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 20:59:06)

I wonder where 2009light is? Almost everybody in Spike needs him. Dragon needs his approval for joining the battle, and I need him to post his reaction to Blaze's appearance. Without those things, the current 3 way, or soon to be 4 way, battle cannot go on.

Oh, and someone go kill us the inactive people.

Ronin Of Dreams -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 21:08:28)

2009Light has not been cripplingly idle for the purposes of the purge, and has been somewhat active OOCly. However, noted.

demonhunter -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 21:22:01)

Given that this topic is for Sky and Spike, I doubt he felt any need to mention idlers in the other two arenas in this topic

Nightly -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 21:38:05)

Ronin Of Dreams

I would like to profusely apologize for exiting so quickly. I beleived that I would have plenty of time to formulate plots and whatnot, but due to the fact that I would miss three days from drop-offs, and depending on when they last, I would not be able to post anymore from the 26th onwards. I was unware of that fact, which is my blame entirely since I never make myself aware of what my schedule has in store for me.

Once again, deepest apologies. Look for me next year when I have new character (gasp!), a more literate bio, and more thought out as well, and hopefully more time, energy and skill.

Sincerely,
The annoying water-nado
Nightly :D

ringulreith -> RE: =EC OOC 2009= Spike and Sky Arenas (7/23/2009 21:39:05)

Hi there DH!

And I thought for a minute there I was rid of you... Well, guess I'll try my best... Though I doubt I can overtake the mighty DH.

Edit: NVM, I checked and .discipline has resigned.
