zeke50100 -> More "advertisement" of Bugs/Gremlins forums (11/8/2009 1:23:25)

Like the title says, I think the forums for bugs should be advertised more. For example, in the MQGD: Almost ALL release threads have "Remember, post bugs in the gremlins forums" at the bottom. Of course, this is often overlooked, and there are millions of bugs posted in the discussion thread anyway >.>

I think a way of solving this would be having a stickied thread titled "Mechquest Bugs/Gremlins" in the GD (closed, of course) that states that bugs should go in the bug forum.

Yes, this may seem unnecessary with the rules actually having a "Where to post X" section, but that's sort of hard to see (Everyone should read the rules, but then again, it seems a lot of users don't). If there were a thread that actually had this specific issue as the title, it would stand out much more.

DF and MQ actually link to their bugs forums from the game; there's a link at the bottom of the game window that says "Report a Bug!" and this does seem to be a fairly effective method of helping people who do not otherwise know about the forums find the bugs forum and report a bug (we get a decent number of first-time forum users in the gremlins forums). AQ does not (although it would help) and I don't know about AQW/WF.

As far as advertising it on the forums goes...I don't even know if it's necessary to be honest. Most if not all bugs do (eventually) end up being reported in the appropriate place even if not every user who experiences the bug does so. I can't speak for other AKs, but I also tend to keep an eye on MQ GD and the release thread during release nights to see if people are complaining about any particularly troublesome bugs (which they may or may not realize are bugs, this is sometimes an issue that prevents people from reporting bugs to the appropriate place. They just don't know it's a bug.) so that, even if nobody reports the bug to the bugs board, it still gets passed along to the people who need to know about it.

Ok, got it! :D (Lock Request)

Although I still think there could possibly be a psuedo-rule stating that saying "Is this a bug?" 47889 times in a release thread is sorta not cool.

We try to let people know that such-and-such is a bug in the official thread when we can, but while we can lead a horse to water we can't make it drink :P
