I noticed recently that if I want to reply to someone I have to copy and paste the quote, even when I hit "Reply" on the post. I was wondering if maybe a "Quote Original" button could be added so that the quote being replied to would just go into the text box, removing the hassle of copy and paste.

We used to have a quote original button but it led to people creating quote pyramids and quoting the posts directly above their own very frequently so it was removed.

That is such a shame. It seems that every time something good happens, people here ruin it. EX. The Polls forum. Is there maybe a way that a poster would have to "gain access" to use of this button and if the user abused it could have the access revoked?

we use to have a quote button, but it got spammy since people made quote pyramids all the time.
so they took it out, and i do not think they are putting it back in
EDIT: no because then mods would have to go through and keep an eye out for that. i do not think they would like that to much :p

Unfortunately not. It's too much work for our forum staff to be constantly monitoring people and deciding who should be allowed to use it and who should not.

Well that is just disappointing. I vaguely remember that button, was a nice one... oh well. Its hard to make suggestions for the forums since most of the time they are ruined by a majority of the users. Thanks any way guys. You can lock this unless anyone has anything important to say regarding the issue. The only thing that would be neat is if it was like AA (Approved Artists) where you actually had to apply for the usage. Don't worry, I understand people don't want to moderate quote pyramids.
