The Game -> RE: Equipment Comparison Section for MQ (11/10/2009 0:48:43)

As it stands, there is little need to establish an entire sub-forum on Equipment Comparison in MQ. The mechanics of MQ are relatively straightforward and, unlike in AQ, it is quite possible to tell whether one weapon is more potent than another by accounting for listed damage alone, with some attention payed to special effects. This is because, unlike AQ, MQ lacks a system in which a wide variety of special effects are in practice and also lacks a BTH system that can and does alter the rankings of weapons. Granted, there is a system of buffing on some items, but calculating this is not that hard, really. (Keep in mind that most weaponry effects in MQ such as healing are non-factors in relation to damage, so they are left out when calculating a weapon's average damage per turn) Until MQ progresses a bit more to effectively accommodate more game-altering mechanics, an Equipment Comparison forum is superfluous. Most of the time, "buy this or this" is up to preference alone for specific characters, which is more suited for CR&A than EC. Personally, I would like to see the introduction of such concepts as innate BTH and forumlas for stats introduced before a EC forum is introduced. It will make it that much easier to properly identify the stronger weapon and allows the comparer to take into account most, if not all, factors. All in all, it will make feasible the process of actually comparing the items.
