why is my sent folder empty even though i send pms all the time?

You need to check the box labeled "Save a copy to sent folder?" near the bottom of the PM window before you send the PM to save a copy in your sent folder. You can make PMs default to saving a sent copy by going to your profile, scrolling down to Private Message, and checking the box labeled "Always save PM to sent folder" (and then click Apply at the bottom).
