Greetings to you,
Speculation and Theories was an area of the ArtixEntertainment forums that was near and dear to my heart. First created, at my own suggestion, near the beginning of AQ's devourer saga as a place to handle the forum aspects of that Saga S&T continued to grow and evolve in the years since.
As AE's repitoire continued to expand it became clear that there are other needs in the AE forums that are not necessarily being met by the old structure. There was no place within the hierarchy of the AE forums for instance to discuss the world of Lore in general terms, in it's many incarnations.
Indeed, other then Speculation and Theories, there was no place within the AE forums where cross game conversation of any sort fit fully. Likewise there were few if any places where general discussion of AE as an entity fit well in the hierarchy.
What also became clear was that, as the AE community has grown and evolved, this need could not continue to go unfulfilled. Moreover, because of S&T's already cross game focus, it was uniquely suited to be the starting point for such a community. Hence Speculation and Theories has undergone an expansion in focus to include all of the things I have previously mentioned. Speculation and Theories was renamed at the same time to Artix Entertainment General Discussion to reflect this new broader community identity.
From the user perspective almost all of the old focus of Speculation and Theories remains intact and you may continue to post here as you always have. What differs is that additional topics of discussion in line with this broadening of purpose will now appear here as well.
One minor change will occur in regard to informed theories about upcoming content that are specific to a single game, while such will be welcome here in Artix Entertainment General Discussion, as they clearly are on topic for such a diverse forum, they also fit quite well within the General Discussion forums of the specific game being considered. While this change may result in a small amount of thread redundancy between this forum and the general game forums it is the feeling of the forum staff that because the individual contributors to specific forums will vary that such redundancy is of beneficial overall to the forum community.
Speculation and Theories' evolution has helped to keep this place a lively and important part of the AE forum community and it can be expected that as time move forward as Artix Entertainment General Discussion this will continue to be the case.
The rules have been somewhat modified in light of this new identity. All users including vetrans of S&T are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new rules here.
