TW25 -> AE Universe Encyclopedia/Wiki (11/26/2009 22:42:43)

With the continuous growth of all of AE's games, I believe it is time that we had a place where information on all of the AE Universe can be found. This would be a place to find information on all aspects of Lore's mythology in one place, an encyclopedia on the universe (much like wikis covering the Halo Universe, Forgotten Realms, etc.). In my opinion this would be an excellent extension of AEGD. Now that we have a place that concerns Speculations and Theories about the AE Universe, surely it would be wise to have a place that contains all known information. A place to compile the history of Lore. Whether this would be an "Encyclopedia" or a Wiki (like the AQW Wiki) would obviously be up to whomever decides to take on this project. (And I am suggesting it here because I see this running much more smoothly as an official forums section/project.)

I do realize this would be a massive undertaking and I am unsure whether it would be practical or not. However, I see no harm in suggesting it [:D]

there already is one. aqwwikidot

Ultrapowerpie -> RE: AE Universe Encyclopedia/Wiki (11/27/2009 9:50:29)

That's strictly AQW, and he already mentioned it. He means a compilation of EVERYTHING and relating how everything relates to each other.

We're kind of doing something like that in AE GD... we're creating a massive index of imoprtant speculations and other stuff. As for an entire board... we don't have THAT much free time to dedicate, and as you said it's a MASSIVE undertaking >.>

I think it would be way to diffcult. There's only two ways that you could really go about doing this:

Having users put the data in themselves or having an Info Submission meaning the AKs would have to do all the work. Plus, the AKs that are moderating over the board would have to know exactly what went on during a certain game, and I'm pretty sure that not many of the AKs know everything there is, even about one game.

The Braken Bard -> RE: AE Universe Encyclopedia/Wiki (11/27/2009 18:03:40)

But is it needed? I mean it would be GOOD to have, but each AE game has its own timeline now (aside from WF) and it might confuse new players.
EDIT: Spelt good wrong. I hate how annoying iPhones can be for typing!

agreed. yep that was only AQW thnx for clarifying that Ultrapowerpie. making it would be so time consuming but definitely worth every penny in the end. imagine poor parents of kids who play AE games. they'll be asking they're clueless parents tons of questions. also to us older players of these games, we wont have difficulty knowing whats what and whats not. so its best to make an AE universe Encyclopedia, Child friendly of course for the little kids and for us.

BlueKatz -> RE: AE Universe Encyclopedia/Wiki (12/4/2009 10:48:24)

Actually, I find that Forum Encyclopedia is much faster, on both connection and much easier for player/mob/Ak to fix information. I find that AQWiki have a lot of Typo, most of them are formula in classes.
So I vote a big, big NO

It would be NICE to have something like that. However if it was created I think it should only have "Key" events and points about the AE universe. Also maby some detailed Bios of the NPCs from all the games. So we can see the history of the characters and such. Anyway it is still a hugh undertakeing, and I doubt anything like that will be made anytime soon. In the future when AE has more AKs and Staff it may be possible, only time will tell.

Of course some really dedicated fans of the AE games could do this project themselves. Getting background info from the respective games, and adding info to the wiki together. All you need to get started is: one HUGH fan of each game, and a few people who KNOW how to create a good wiki. Also you will need permission from Artix and/or other leaders of each AE game.

I think that about covers it.
