Section 1 - Explaining the Plot

1. Brief Explanation

First of all, this is not a walkthrough, but a guide that links all the walkthroughs together. If you want to know the best order to complete the storyline quests and planets, this guide will help you. But remember: this is a suggestion considering the order the quests and planets were released. You may choose to accept it or not.

2. Prologue

Welcome to MechQuest, GEARS University pilot. After creating your character, you will start in the Dropship. Here, you will be able to accomplish several missions, and even a minigame. If you are looking for a walkthrough, or perhaps the complete list of what you can do in this area, The Dropship: A Complete Walkthrough will help you. The Dropship is a fun tutorial if you are seeking easy battles and a good way to level up to level 5. Captain Sys-Zero have some missions for you, including The Intruder, Rescue, Distress Call (for Star Captains) and Strange Blip. These missions are a fun way to farm for credits and experience in your first levels. After these tasks, you are finally able to land your ship. Welcome to Gears University, where your epic story is about to unfold!

Section 2 - The Complete Order

3. Planet Loreon

You, the newbie GEARS pilot, finally arrive in Soluna City, capital of Planet Loreon. As a student, your first objective is to look for a job. You are interested in many jobs, like working at Mecharoni, hunting ghosts for Mysterious Johnson, finding fossil for the Soluna Museum, helping Chief Duncan to combat criminals and saving lives for Nurse Helia. Although, your main goal is to become the best GEARS pilot. In order to do so, you will have to complete some GEARS classes, and learn the basic (and the advanced) subjects.

Oh, Soluna City. The city that never stops, where there are flying ships all over the sky, GEARS students everywhere and many buildings.

Still being built. If you find any typos/grammar errors, please post them here. Posts like "Keep it up" or "Great!" will be deleted on sight.

Additional Credits: Many thanks to Sheriff Duncan for the constructive post.

Hm.. interestng Guide. But, if you do proceed making this, it would mean that making a Planet Necryptos Guide would be obsolete rght?

forumlogin -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (12/28/2009 16:59:22)

@Venturer
I don't think so.
Seems to me like this is more on storyline; Planet Necryptos guides can cover the smaller details.

Denolth -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (12/29/2009 9:37:57)

I agree with both of you. A Planet Necryptos Guide would be necessary, but not obsolete. This is the storyline of MechQuest. As said in the Brief Description, "If you want to know the best order to complete the storyline quests and planets, this guide will help you.". The guide's first objective is to show people the correct release order of the planets/quests, and a brief description of each. I think you can define this guide with only one sentence:

"How a GEARS Pilot saved the galaxy"

Or else!

zeke50100 -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (1/3/2010 19:08:09)

This is great, keep it up!

...You could link in to Mecha Stats and Stat Buildings when you explain Mecha Piloting 101 in sections 3.1. Also, something about G.E.A.R.S. houses not affecting storyline in any way (Well, except for the tiny snippet in the Khaeldron Lab), because it might be useful if people are wondering which one "has the best storyline".

bileon -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (1/14/2010 14:01:10)

Any idea when the next update will be?
The progress of this guide appears to have stalled

Denolth -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (1/14/2010 20:14:32)

Thanks, Zeke. Since I don't know if the Soluna City part will be kept, I will wait a little bit to change it.

Bileon, even though you are right that I haven't update this in a while, I have a reason for such thing. I actually liked how The Dropship section is, but I think that Soluna City looks like a walkthrough, and that's definately NOT the point of this guide. I am still deciding and collecting information about the storyline, but I promise I will update it soon.

Once again, any suggestions are welcome ^-^

bileon -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (1/15/2010 13:29:18)

It's ok, there's no need to rush. I just wasn't sure if you were having any trouble with it

Denolth -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (3/3/2010 19:40:22)

I will be updating this guide in the next few days, trying to finish Soluna and starting Westion. In the mean time, if you have any information you think that may help, don't be afraid to post =)

Postmaster General -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (3/3/2010 20:34:58)

With the whole Sys-Zero/C-mail Quest line, it showed the country's name "Tibattleonia" and the "origins" of Battleon. lol

And:

quote:

The storyline does make sense if one has been with MQ since the beginning. C-Mails and the Soluna BigScreen were closest to functioning like AQW's LogBook, but sort of fell by the wayside under new releases.

But after completion of Soluna/Moon, the order was Westion Pt.1, Zargon, Gark/Lagos, Westion Pt.2, up to Necryptos. The reason for the planet-hopping was for the player to try and find allies for Soluna against the ShS. Planet 51 is just a side planet meant more as a simple battle planetoid with no real contribution to the storyline (except watching the intro to meet MQ's resident demi-god), with some rather solid rewards for those who chose to take the time to complete it, though the weapon ranges are limited to 20, 24, 29, and 33.

I don't believe the storyline is "messed up" per se, but merely in need of clarification, and maybe a few level and/or mission completion locks.

First of all, I'd like to edit the existing parts to help accomplish the idea I understand you wish to convey:

A few important points:

  • Gark is a "Planetoid"
  • I began writing descriptions for each planet, but due to technical difficulties, and feelings that it would be more original if they were your own words, I omitted them
  • I hope I could help here. I posted a Quoted version and a Coded version for easy incorporation if you so choose!

Great start so far, keep it up!

I'll be back to edit when additions have been incorporated!

runer -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (4/29/2010 10:56:17)

A small point regarding Timeline order :

Planet Gark & Lagos both came in release before Planet 51 , 51 came while the Lagos saga was half way through or something , just a small note after all [:)] .

Denolth -> RE: The MechQuest Storyline Guide - From the Start to the End (6/29/2010 12:10:14)

All right, since now we have another storyline guide, I will lock this one! ^^ Thanks a lot to everyone who posted!

Locked!
