Nebula -> Specific reason for a name change??? (1/6/2010 18:06:49)

I was just wondering, why do you need a specific or "good enough" reason for a name change? I was thinking of asking Seahawk for my forum username to be changed to Ranger Nebula or Ranger King, but I don't see why I should need a reason other than "I want it changed." :/

I mean, do I have to have a reason, like, being harrassed about my name or something?

Yep,is has to be something similar to being harassing or too much name calling. Don't just say "I want it because its cool and I like it more." That will lead you nowhere. Just keep in mind,have a good reason and you can only one rename. :)

It does'nt nescessarily have to be something about harrasing or anything of that sort. As long as your reason is genuine and not just a "i want" thing, i believe it is possible to get a name change.

If you're being harassed about your name you should alert a mod or admin about it and they will deal with the user(s) in question, there's no need to get a name change in that instance.

Having a "good reason" in this case means you aren't requesting a name change just because you're bored with the current one, for example.

It seems that this has gotten some good answers, but I think my part may be worth adding.

Since Seahawk's the only one handling name changes (along with the rest of his duties) he's got a big to-do list. If everyone could get a name change whenever they felt like it for any reason, that list would probably be tripled, and we don't want him losing feathers with stress. Besides that, all that activity would also take a toll on the forums (service space I believe, I doubt speed would be much affected).

I for one have gone through the process. My reason was so that people would be able to know who I was on the forums. I wanted my forum name the same as my in game name.

Ah, so I believe something seemingly arbitrary like getting my "z" capitalized wouldn't fly. :P

Something like "I tried making the account with X name originally, but for some reason didn't let me", provided that the name was now available, seems like it would be okay.

Well, I had a name change from Elite3012 to Ebil Twilly, and I asked politely. I had no reason though.
