Zaier -> Name change understanding (1/6/2010 21:16:36)

I already know a little about it but I wanna know all of it x)
Just tell me if I got anything wrong or if I missed a few, then just tell me.
Thanks.
1. Requires a reasonable explination why you need to change
2. You must tell Seahawk for the name change and include

  • Username
  • What you want to change it to
  • why

That's all I know xP

Qs
1. When you log in, do you use the first user or the one you chenged it to?
2. If someone PMs you using ure first user address, do you get it? Or is it lost 4eva cuz it was sent to the wrong address?

Thanks a bunch! xD

As far as the requirements for a name change, you can find those in the Frequently Asked Question sticky:

quote:

According to the Staff and ArchKnights List, Seahawk is responsible for changing your forum name. You only get one rename, so make sure you really want the new name, nobody else already has the name, and you have a good reason. If, after all that, you're sure you still want the name change, then send him a PM and ask nicely. But remember that he's a busy hawk, so please be patient!

Once Seahawk changes your name he will send you an email with your new username and a temporary password. You log in using the new name and password. Be absolutely certain that the email address attached to your forum account is an active one before requesting a name change or else you won't be able to log in.

PMs sent to your old username will likely be met with the "user cannot or chooses not to receive PMs" message.

temporary password? How will you change it to the password you want?
he will send you an email? He will send you an email or will he PM you?

Vivi -> RE: Name change understanding (1/6/2010 21:36:02)

To change your password you go to your profile and click "change password".

He sends it to your email. Since you don't know your new password it would be hard to log in and check your PMs :P

zeke50100 -> RE: Name change understanding (1/6/2010 21:37:43)

To change your password, go to your control panel (click "Profile" at the top right of the forums) and click "Change Password"

And yes, he will email you; as in, send an email to your listed email address ^_^

You're logged off once the name change occurs, so you can't possibly receive a PM containing the temporary info, since...well, you can't access it!

The Braken Bard -> RE: Name change understanding (1/7/2010 5:30:43)

1. The new one. I myself remember how I was surprised that I couldn't log in with my old username and thought my Forum Account had been banned [8D] Then I checked my email and it had the new Username with the Temporary Password.

Ebil Twilly -> RE: Name change understanding (1/7/2010 16:37:28)

Well, I had a name change from Elite3012 to Ebil Twilly, and I asked politely. I had no reason though.

BobbyBerserker -> RE: Name change understanding (1/8/2010 8:16:33)

I also have a question. Will your new acount still have approved whatever, same capabilities, avatar etc. etc. etc?

citrinas -> RE: Name change understanding (1/8/2010 8:18:16)

I would say yes

Frozt -> RE: Name change understanding (1/9/2010 12:44:30)

@Bobby Berserker: Actually, you don't get a "new account" as such. Everything you've written and done before is still there.
Including you avatar, signature, forum groups and such. All that changes is your name (and of course the temporary password), and that's it.

BobbyBerserker -> RE: Name change understanding (1/9/2010 23:39:27)

@ Frozt, so you are saying that if you switched your username it would be similar to changing your avatar in which all of your previous posts' names are replaced with the newer username?

Frozt -> RE: Name change understanding (1/10/2010 6:36:25)

Yes.
