Ampy -> Reputation System (1/20/2010 17:20:25)

Hey, I would like to propose a reputation system, were when you are being helpful for example I answered maybe 30 question's accordingly maybe that could possibly equal 10 rep, and I believe it should be installed as I use it on my forum site, and it work's very well. So what do you think about this?

Zephyros -> RE: Reputation System (1/20/2010 17:37:42)

We used to have one -- posts could be rated a certain number of stars -- and got rid of it. Don't see any reason to bring it back.

Spy -> RE: Reputation System (1/20/2010 18:05:50)

It could differentiate between posters that spam and posters that actually post something worth reading.

Zephyros -> RE: Reputation System (1/20/2010 18:17:12)

Yeah, that's more or less what the stars did. We decided to remove them a few years ago.

Ampy -> RE: Reputation System (1/20/2010 18:37:39)

O.o sorry I wasn't here I few years ago so I didn't know about it but still a point's system would be good like you get so many point's per post or so.

zeke50100 -> RE: Reputation System (1/20/2010 18:42:15)

That would lead to people spamming posts for the sake of getting more points.

Not to mention that reputation itself is an abusable system as a whole.

Yeah, I guess but if your posts are spam or unnesseccary your point's could be removed that you gained via your spam. if not that you get points for correctly answering multiple peoples questions.

Chii -> RE: Reputation System (1/20/2010 19:29:14)

It's far better when people are helpful without being bribed to try being so. Rep points have a knack of making people spam even more to try and get those points.

The Braken Bard -> RE: Reputation System (1/21/2010 5:44:04)

The "Helpful" title is more than enough to tell you that a User is a spammer or not. Grammar also tells you a lot about whether the person spams or not, though not too much.

Nightly -> RE: Reputation System (1/21/2010 15:34:35)

Also, I don't know if you've noticed this Ragestriker, but certain posts do get deleted even if they aren't spamming or whatnot.

If you've had a thread in AQ Suggestions, you'd know what I'd mean because if you let your thread go, eventually it will be recycled and you could end up losing a lot of posts.

Evo -> RE: Reputation System (1/21/2010 15:58:51)

Quantity of posts never mattered on this forum. It is all about the quality of the posts. If you truly want to be helpful then you should not care about getting something back for it unless you are just after helping yourself in the end. The forum staff pays attention to the members posting here and when a member deserves a title for their participation on the forum they end up getting one.

Ampy -> RE: Reputation System (1/21/2010 16:12:28)

Oh, is that so then for example if they payed attention beowolve would most likely have a title as good as he's done here on the forums. But yet that hasn't been noticed.

Evo -> RE: Reputation System (1/21/2010 16:26:29)

You only know half the story of the members. There are things you are not privy to which go into the consideration of who gets a title and who doesn't.

Ampy -> RE: Reputation System (1/21/2010 17:07:12)

Im not im just giving a example of a stand-out forum member that's all just lock the thread I see no point in it now if your going to make an arguement about it.

Lock requested. ~phoenixfire555
