Trillionaire -> Lock Please (2/18/2010 20:35:51)

Hello everyone,
I was just looking at some forums and realised,
theres a LOT of spam going on in some.
If there was a possible way that I could get a group of people,
and get permission to go into a certain section of the forums
and get them to either take out the spam or remind
people not to spam, then let me know.
Please note this is just a suggestion.

Thank you,
~Trill

We kinda have a group already like that call Moderators and ArchKnights. ;) I suggest you take a look at the quotes below:

quote:

Moderators (Mods)
Title: Adventureguide (until changed by moderator/admin)
Responsibility: Moderators are responsible for a wide range of duties. They oversee the board/s they are responsible for, as well as the AKs which work them. They dispense discipline in the forum of warnings and bans. They have the power to remove signatures and a person's ability to use signatures entirely. They have the ability to awards titles and avatar uploads to those forum users which deserve them. General moderators (those not in charge of a specific board) assist the head moderators of the boards they frequent.
Selection: Moderators are currently selected from among the ArchKnights who are 18 years old or older. They are chosen by the Head Forum Administrator.

quote:

ArchKnights (AKs)
Title: ArchKnight (Will include "Arch" or "AK" and the name/s of the board/s they work in)
Responsibility: To help the moderators keep the forum clean. They patrol their assigned boards helping users, watching for and dealing with rules violations (such as spam, flaming, trolling, etc). They issue warnings and recommend bans to the moderators. In addition, they keep an eye out for helpful forum users to bring to the attention of the moderators/administrators. They may have other duties depending on which board/s they work.
Selection: AKs are selected from among helpful forum users (who do not appear to actively be seeking power/advancement) by the head moderator of the board/s they frequent. The head moderator discusses their selection with Icemaster Yeti, the head of the ArchKnights, and if he approves, they are brought aboard.

If you're talking about getting temporary Mods and AKs, then I suggest you take a look at the quote below:

quote:

1) "Why don't you appoint some temporary Moderators or ArchKnights in <insert spammy board>?"
If we trust someone enough to make them a temporary ArchKnight, or promote an ArchKnight to a temporary Moderator, then we trust them enough to promote them full-time. There is no "half" or "temporary." If you feel a specific board is having problems, please let that board's Head Moderator know.

Yes I read that, but you know how they are always busy,
I keep hearing them say that they have lives too. So maybe we
could take a little weight off of their shoulders?

Guess the best way to make it less stressful for them is to add more AKs. But remember:

If you encounter some troublesome posts, you can send a PM to an AK or a Moderator and they will handle the issue for you. That process is an effective way of dealing with problems while creating a group just for selected situations would be more of a problem than a possible solution.

Ok, with that last post, I request a lock.
Thank you.

Locked as requested. -skydrite
