Falerin -> =Dev and Story= As an added bonus... some Design Notes! (3/3/2010 23:56:04)

I'm practically giving the Plot of Germinator Plantation away!

This weeks release began being plotted almost a year ago. Galanoth and I were looking over things ripe for parody when the idea of parodying Terminator came up and we agreed that the rise of diabolical machines was ripe for AQ parody but the question then became where could such machines originate... the obvious choice was the Drakel and as we considered what Drakel could be involved, we quickly settled on Vince needing more screen time especially as many of the other Drakel were tied to other storylines like the recent DrakelCube P parody.

That laid the foundations for the hillarious ground work that would ultimately become Germinator. I must confess that the first draft of Germinator was written late one night after I had seen one to many infomercials for Sheeties the Sheet with Legs... and this resulted in a fairly colorful dialog.

Over the next several revisions Damsel, Zephyros, and I spent countless hours tossing infomercial concepts back and forth. And before you could make three easy payments of $19.95, Germinator had become a parody not only of the rise of the machines but of the entirety of Infomercial culture besides.

Then, last June, Willy May's passed away quite suddenly. Mays already was referenced in the drafts but the idea that the entire parody was something of a tribute to May's genius came to the fore and thus.... was history was born.

We wanted to do some interesting things with the war mechanism and we eventually settled upon the variation you will soon see, which simplified and distilled several of our ideas down into a usable form. Early renditions had a rather more complicated way of doing things, but this variation still combines pieces of several things in a way you won't find in stores!

But wait there's more...

You cannot have an infomercial without products. What war rewards we could include... We tossed numerous ideas back and forth.
We did not think that Scamnow the war reward that just absorbs twice its weight in your gold would be all that popular... though it cried out as classic AQ parody. None the less other than what you will eventually see included several other ideas were tossed out some of them more workable then others....

But I will leave it to my colleagues to comment more on their part of things and more on war rewards that just did not make the cut.

Stay tuned for more exciting offers!

HI EVERYBODY, ZEPHYROS ANGLEMAL HERE WITH--

What's that? ...Quieter? Okay...

As Falerin mentioned, we had several different ideas for war rewards playing off of the products you see in infomercials. I don't want to spoil the war rewards -- they're the special surprise gift for ORDERING NOW -- but I think I can talk about some of the items that didn't make the cut. And who knows? If the response to some of these is good enough, maybe we can talk to Vince the Drakel about upping production on a few of these prototype models.

First, on this table we have the ever-popular Jins-On 9000 series of multipurpose knives. "It slices, it dices, it even JULIENNES your enemy! Apply directly to their forehead!" Sharp enough to cut through a suit of armor and carve up a tender, delicious hydra roast! Just... make sure you wash it between jobs.

And what wizard's closet would be complete without the Snuggle Robe -- "The robe with sleeves! Stay warm and still be able to wield your weapons and shields! You can even cast spells!" This thick, warm cloth is great. It's made in Granemor, and you know they make good stuff. It can keep you warm in a fight AND keep you warm by the campfire at night!

And don't let this little robot's size fool you. The PureeTek can handle any task you throw at it. So you ran into a sneak? Just toss him right in the jug. Giant troll? You may need to leave the lid off and stand back a few paces, but the state-of-the-art motor and razor-sharp blades will cut right through bone! Will it blend? YES IT WILL!

So there are a few ideas that didn't quite make the cut. Are there any here that you REALLY want to see? What other "Made for TV" parody items can you think of that would make good AQ items? Post now, operators are standing by!
