RocketSnail -> Harming your computer on forums (4/22/2010 19:33:24)

I just saw this thread in the Gallery, Called Flash/Hand Drawn tournies or something like that. My computer automatically gave me a heavy warning about the page, saying that it contains content from another website containing items that could harm my computer. It didnt even let me go to the page and told me to go back to the page before that.

I just wanted to point this out.

Can you figure out what ads were on the page at the time? I've gotten the same warning elsewhere, it might be from an advertisement being displayed on the page.

Well, I tried about 3 times and it wouldn't let me in, Ill check then see if I can enter the page.

Edit:
I have high doubts of that. I just tried 3 times again and don't advertisements change every time you go to a page?
I cant see it at all.

Are you talking about the forum safety warning? As in, when you click the link does a page pop up instead? Or is it a message from your antivirus software? If it's the link safety page generated by the forum, it's just a standard warning letting you know that you click external links found on our forums at your own risk and that AE is not responsible for whatever content is found on those pages.

lonewulfy -> RE: Harming your computer on forums (4/23/2010 22:09:16)

Actually, Circe, he's talking about a specific browser warning.
He didn't actually click on the link, it's probably just another one of those popup-blocker/spam machine combos you can find anywhere on the internet. Or maybe it's just a pop-up blocker.

Either case, when a link on a page is displayed that is in its known database of unsafe sites, it'll display a message. So, I can't really help you on this matter, sorry. Maybe you could try uninstalling your toolbars?

Circe -> RE: Harming your computer on forums (4/23/2010 22:11:20)

If that is the case, lonewulfy, I wouldn't advise uninstalling anything. Send me the link in question via PM, RsNail - if there are unsafe links on our forums, they need to be removed.

Circe, Dont know if you saw, but I sent you a PM with a picture of it.
