The Braken Bard -> A new system for Uploading Avvies? (5/12/2010 2:52:51)

I was thinking that maybe there could be a different system for getting avatars uploaded.

Right now, Seahawk goes through all of them and Uploads which ones that he deems fit. But the problem is that he's also a very busy person. Maybe we could have a more efficient way of getting avatars uploaded for Public Use. Here's how the idea goes.

There's a small group of people selected by AK's and Mods and people will give them the avatars they want uploaded. They would then choose which ones would be the most appropriate and send the selected group of avatars to Seahawk via PM. Since the avatars have been properly gone through and all, Seahawk wouldn't have to go through post to post and would upload all the avatars.
All this choosing would be done in a thread. The thread would sort of be like an Avvie Testing Thread, except there, people post which avvies they made, and the people running the thread would directly choose which ones would be the best for the Public domain. They can also make sure they are within the restrictions.

This would have many advantages and would be generally a win-win situation:
- Seahawk has one of his duties reduced (he wouldn't have to go through every individual post regarding avvies; the avvie post sent to him would only require just uploading the ones in that specific post)
- People would be able to know if their avatars they've made have been uploaded (because the people choosing the avvies can properly thank the people that submitted avatars)
- Public Avatars would be the best looking ones reasonable and of good quality (and they should be, as everyone, not just one person, has to use those avatars as well)

I think this might be a more efficient way. In all, other people do all the sorting out of Avatars, whilst all Seahawk has to do uploads the avvies sent by those people. Any comments?

This is one of the reason why avatars are not picked by the public. Primarily because it would be bias. Seahawk upload anybody's different quality of avatar. Hence why you would see some are the best, some are not. It's all about equality ;P

Edit: And off course, that doesn't stops you from submitting the best work of yours to him.

Oops. I kind of worded that wrong. I meant that, there are some avatars that have been uploaded for public use, but some of them are of particularly low quality. I should probably and try and fix the wording on that...

I like the idea.
Things would get done so much quicker.

But how would Seahawk go about selecting such an unbiased team?

I've seen a few avvies that are specific to the creator and nobody else, yet they've still made it to the Public Domain.

What kind of criteria would you suggest each be judged on?
Would all selectors be judging them as a collective? Consulting each other before a final decision is made?
Or would a submission be judged by whoever is on at the time?
What if there are conflicting opinions between Selectors?

There goes Isis blabbing again lol great suggestion Bard, the issue is what turns me away from submitting an avatar of my own.

Then again, "Good things come to those who wait." ;-;
I'll be watching this thread keenly.

Circe -> RE: A new system for Uploading Avvies? (5/12/2010 19:02:14)

Avatar upload requires administrative privileges. Unfortunately, this is not a task that can be delegated to a team and certainly not people who haven't joined the staff team. Seahawk does the best he can and if the workload gets too much for him, we'll hand the task over to another administrator.

Thank you for your suggestion and I appreciate your patience with Seahawk as he works his way through the submissions.
