Khimera -> Font Sizes (5/14/2010 18:11:03)

Currently the font sizes are limited to 7 choices (8 if you count default). My suggestion is to change the code to allow the tags to work based on standard font sizes, as seen in text editors. For example:

Current:
Text

My proposal:
Text

So, as you can see, it would be almost identical, but will allow for more variation.

There really is no need for an increase in font size after font size 7, seeing that 7 is already quite large.

If I've interpreted correctly, that's not what Khimera is saying. Size 14 would be the 14 font in a word processing program, for instance.

I do wonder why we need more variation in font sizes, however, as there's very little reason to post in anything but the default size. Maybe for formatting purposes, but I have yet to experience a post that requires more than seven font sizes.

@Everest: The problem isn't that there isn't enough sizes: The problem is that, for formatting, you may want to use different sizes for titles, sub-titles, etc., but with the large gaps between each size it ends up so that either titles are too large or normal writing is too small.

Kain -> RE: Font Sizes (5/15/2010 13:14:56)

To be honest Khimera, I never faced such problems when writing guides. While the gap is somewhat big, it is just enough to elaborate complex guides (actually, I believe they are perfect for what they are used). The normal text is just perfect in size, and if you feel a title isn't fitting your text, try changing of font format/face (it work wonders :p).

Sir Gnome -> RE: Font Sizes (5/15/2010 13:22:34)

I've spent a lot of time writing Guide, Rules and Support type threads, and I've always found the the forum font sizes sufficient; size 3 or 4 works well for main titles, then the size below that for main subtitles, and for the body of the text and for any sub-subtitles then the default font-size (with bolding/underlining for the titles) works fine.

Khimera -> RE: Font Sizes (5/15/2010 16:11:04)

Fairy snuff, I guess if the current system didn't work then it wouldn't have lasted so long. I'm merely offering my suggestion as an improvement to the current system, but then it's left to the coders to see if it's worth enough of their time. If it isn't, then I'm satisfied to have at least put my suggestion out there and would be happy if this is locked.

Thread starter satisfied. Locked ~SG
