Global sorting option (Full Version)

One of the things that gets really gets annoying when traversing the numerous forums on here is that they all have different default filters. For example, all the game discussion forums usually are sorted by last post, while some comunity forums are sorted by author name, and who knows what. It's pretty easy to change the sorting option, but it does take up to two clicks, and can get annoying if you frequent multiple forums with different sorting options.

So, would it be possible to have a sorting setting in your profile or account settings, that set the sorting of all forums you visit to whatever you set it as? If that is hard to do, could all forums be set to one standardized sorting format that is used by most people (sort by last post, descending, probably)

Sorting by last post is the default forum setting, but when you see other settings in different forums, there's a reason for it. Most of the time, forums that use a member name sorting function do so to prevent unnecessary and unfair bumps to the top of a page. This is really only done in forums that historically have had problems with members bumping their suggestions or literary works, etc. to the top of a page without really adding anything because they think it will get their work read faster.

So putting into place a setting to counteract that function is a bit counter-intuitive.
