Strangely and simply enough...... I put in my date of birth and my month but don't want to show my year..... I click apply and ok on the profile part...and I look at my profile....poof its not there!?

Are you sure you pressed apply? If so, make sure the box next to the birthday option isn't ticked. It hides your birthday. ~Ana.
