First, I'll explain what this forum takes as "advertising":
We consider "advertise" anything that intentionally leads user to click on a link, or that result in a user profiting from other people clicking on it. An example would be "Check my AQW char page!", or "Click here for awesomeness!". Now, it would be acceptable if you did something like: "Here is my char page" or "This is my char ^^". Basically, the content itself is not a problem in the advertise rule, but how it is presented to the other users.
As long your fansite is not promoted in these lines and has nothing that could be taken as "illegal" or against the forum rules, you're free to link it, though keep in mind a moderator may view it in a different way.
