Wxo -> Question (7/9/2010 11:08:46)

quote:

*munch* no petition links on the forums

quote:

Petitions are not allowed to be posted in any forum on the forums. They are also not allowed to be promoted via signature , homepage link or via the PM system.

Can someone please quote the rule that prohibits this? I've read the rules thoroughly and I cannot find such a rule. Perhaps I misread them, or rules are being made up.

The Forgotten -> RE: Question (7/9/2010 11:19:08)

1) No Petition threads
We know there are things you'd like to see, but threads with topics like "Who'd like to see the Tpyo Dmeon Pet in the game? Post your signature below!" just cause clutter and spam. Likewise, using a thread to petition the Staff after changes are made that you dislike is also against the rules.

Anything other explanation needed?

EDIT: From the Signature Rules:

quote:

Signatures are a privilege. Any that do not follow the rules (including ALL of the Universal and forum-specific rules) will be removed.

I just don't know where you got them but the rule is in AQW General Discussion Rules

A bit late. ^^

We are doing nothing more than using a signature.

Vivi -> RE: Question (7/9/2010 11:21:17)

If your signature contained a link to an off-site petition, that was what it was removed for. The image itself is okay.

Wxo -> RE: Question (7/9/2010 11:22:39)

Could you please quote the rule that says no petition links? And my friend didn't have it linked, but it was still removed. Can you please inform all staff of your views?

Verlyrus -> RE: Question (7/9/2010 11:25:46)

There's also the "staff have final say" rule.
Finding a wording loophole and using it is not justifiable.
For example, one could argue that your signature falls under "advertising", which IS explicitly stated in the rules as not allowed.

If your signature was deemed inappropriate, it was deemed inappropriate for a reason.

Wxo -> RE: Question (7/9/2010 11:42:22)

It's not that I found a wording loophole, its that the staff are confused about their own rules. I believe the rule was created to stop all the petitions being created in the aqw section. Not to mention that rule was in the AQW section, not the general rules.
The fact that the quote, "Petitions are not allowed to be posted in any forum on the forums. They are also not allowed to be promoted via signature , homepage link or via the PM system." was used, it lead me to asking where did this decision came from and was it inappropriate.

The rule was either misunderstood by the other staff reading them or mis-written. If that is so, they are allowed to use the "staff have the final say" to say that they are right anyway? Not to mention that I didn't put "click here" or anything of that nature in the sig. I simply linked it, leaving it to the user to click it if they were interested. I was advertising, just simply attaching a link to my sig. I'd very well understand that if I put "Click here to join our bludrutbrawl petition, then I'd understand. But since the word "petition" was used, that confused the staff member into thinking that no petitions of any sort were allowed on the forums instead of its original purpose, taking care of the threads in the aqw section. Spammy threads in the aqw section, in which the rule was created, is inappropriate. Deleting sigs that have little to do with the purpose of the rules isn't appropriate in my opinion.

I don't believe petitioning in it's self is deemed inappropriate, but spamming the threads with them is. I don't mean to sound stubborn or argumentative; I just wanted to share what my opinion on the matter was.

But for the most part, my question was answered. Can this please be locked?

Reens -> RE: Question (7/9/2010 12:00:40)

The rule used in this case is from the Comprehensive Forum Rules to be found here: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=17051217&mpage=1&key=
