Postmaster General -> RE: UCaG Saved Games (7/26/2010 17:46:33)

Although I have only been apart of the UCaG community for a short time, I feel I have caught on quick enough to develop a credible opinion. When considering a suggestion for a change to the forums, you must take into account the benefits, the detriments, and the unneccessaries. The benefits of this would be - The possibility to return to the UCaG after a significant recess and hop right back into your game or contest.
- View past games and their popularity.
Detriments of this change: - The amount of coding needed to create a new board (Forum Coders are busy and have a laundry list of higher priorities)
- Everyone would want their game there, becoming a trophy case to all UCaGers.
The Unnecessary work: - In considerably less work, a person who expected to be gone for long period of time could save their game's code off site to be used once they had returned.
- If someone expected to be away, they could temporarily warrant a co-host to take over while away, allowing progress in the game without the need for a pause.
- This would become much like a sticky, which as expressed in the UCaG rules, "No game or contest will be made a sticky" shows that the UCaG AK's do not wish these examples to be perpetually stored.
With everything I have taken into account, it would be much simpler and more advisable to simply save the code off site for later access. @DragonYugi: Not all Gallery Resource Tutorials are FAQ'd, only those that are truly responding to Frequently Asked Questions. Also, the threads found in the Gallery Resources have provided regular assistance to the community, where as this Archive would likely not. Although I agree this would be a good idea, I must say that the majority of its benefits could be easily outdone independently. I would say that if this suggestion were to be instated, it would need to be regularly emptied after the previously allotted amount of time had passed.
