Skurge -> Deleting Messages/Topics (8/23/2010 13:56:25)

Everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes a simple 'Edit' won't do it. Does anyone agree to this? I've made a lot of Posts and Topic which I later realize shouldn't have been made.

Delete your first post and the entire thread is deleted *nods*

Some areas of the forums simply do not allow you to delete your messages.

But most of them allow you to delete them.

I agree, with this installment less, and less clutter would reside within the forums.

Sub-forums that do not allow members to delete their own posts generally have very good reasons to do so, which unfortunately are not always disclosable to forum members. I will say that in some situations is more harmful to allow members to delete their own posts than to prohibit it, even if self-deletions would sometimes reduce clutter.

I would like to point out that you can always ask a moderator or ArchKnight of the section to delete a post for you, if you have a reason for doing so. If it breaks forum rules... then frankly, it shouldn't have been posted in the first place, and we tend to encourage good judgment before posting rather than better judgment after you can see reactions to what you've said.
