sky222 -> Buying custom avatar (8/30/2010 22:43:49)

I think everyone who goes on ED forum hates the idea of the merge..one reason:we cant have custom avatars

My idea:you can pay 5$ for a custom avatar
  • The privilage will still be earned by becoming friendly/helpful
  • This can be taken away be admins/mods
  • If needed you can make price like membership in AQW:5$ for a month or you can buy 15$ for 4 month(or something)

    I know alot of ppl who would love this and their paying for the space they take up so pls consider

    quote:

    We sure can!

    Avatars are now being sent to Seahawk.
    The rules are as follows:
    1. Avatars MUST be AE related.
    2. Avatars have to follow the regular avatar rules. 95 X 95 pixels and no larger than 10K, NO ANIMATIONS. .jpg or .gif only
    3. Avatars can NOT simply be a cut out of AE art with nothing done to them. If we want some direct AE art we can easily add it ourself.
    4. Please PM avatars to me in bunches of 5 to 10. I might consider uploading less, but I will not upload more.
    All avatars must be in the same PM.
    5. Do not PM me multiple times to ask when your avatars will be uploaded. I'll do it when I get to it. If I have multiple PMs about the same avatars, they won't be uploaded no matter how good they are.
    6. Please PM me your submissions. I don't want to receive emails about this.

    Please note that any avatars submitted become the property of Artix Entertainment and as such could be used in advertising or on the web pages.

    3) "Why can't everybody have a custom avatar?"

    quote:

    First, practically speaking, storage space can be tight sometimes. We have a lot of posts in the database, and a lot of members.
    Second, speaking on policy, custom avatars are a privilege used to denote status. They are given either to those who are helpful or creative or to those who volunteer their time.
    Third, aesthetically speaking, we have made the decision that all of our publicly-available avatars would be based on the Artix Entertainment games. This is an Artix Entertainment forum. If you're not satisfied with the choices, submit your own AE-related avatars or earn the privilege to upload your own.

    I don't know if that is allowed,buying the privileged to have the ability to change your avvy!
    Not all of us has the money,if they could buy an avatar then why they shouldn't earn it for the game so they can buy membership or coins or variums for i,i wouldn't pay $5 just for an avatar but this is just for me.The quote has pretty much say why not all of us can upload our own avatar.

    Zephyros -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/30/2010 23:41:35)

    Because people wouldn't immediately fall back on "BUT I BOOOOOUUUUUUGHT IT" as soon as the privilege was removed for abuse...

    megakyle777 -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 2:35:23)

    I agree, Buying it would mean that people would complain if it was removed as a punisment or something. The current system is best

    However, if I may reccomend something, you know how the Battleon Portal has Level Ranks? Why not get a custom Avvy if you have a high enough Level on that? While saying that is an upgrade, you also say that it can be removed if it does nor fit guidelines or if you misbehave? This would only hapen AFTER there are others ways to rank up then buying points, and it WOULD be hard to get. Like this:

    Lvl 50: Custom Avatar on Fourms. (WARNING: Avvy may be removed at any time due to moisbehaviour or not fiiting the rules.)

    You could also get a title saying something like "Lvl 50 Fourmite" with it.[;)]

    Hedning1390 -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 4:17:21)

    There should be more useless things people are able to buy for too much money. I think this is a fine idea. Maybe it should just cost more. Surely "contributor" or "supporter" can fit in the second part of the quote.

    Khimera -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 5:47:01)

    *sigh* Is there anything money can't buy? Custom avatars are a privilege for people who've earned them, by being friendly and helping others. That isn't something that should be able to be bought in my opinion.

    DragonYugi -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 8:42:10)

    I won't even try and explain myself.

    Just... NO to this idea.

    Acient J -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 9:13:35)

    @DragonYugi: Seconded.

    I doubt that this would solve the EpicDuel "hatred" of the merge for several reasons.
    1. It is definitely not the only reason EpicDuel forumites don't want the merge to happen.
    2. Not all EpicDuel forumites have the money or parental permission to buy Varium, let alone a custom avatar.
    3. They didn't have to pay for avatars originally.
    And, being someone who has earned the "Helpful" title and a custom avatar, I just naturally feel against this because custom avatars are a status symbol for me and for many people.

    RocketSnail -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 9:24:50)

    You earn it. If everyone had custom avvies, it would clog up the forum.
    That's why it's restricted so much

    The Forgotten -> RE: Buying custom avatar (8/31/2010 11:20:28)

    I can also see people taking this as a sign that AE is becoming more money-oriented.... and that complaint's come up a lot recently in the AQW forums.
