The Interplanar Theory Varium originated in the alternate plane of reality used by Tech Mages to teleport objects instantly over great distances, and also to exile the rebellions on Delta V. It exists in plasma form almost everywhere in that plane, and puts humans into a state of conscious suspended animation, a state that requires no food, water, or oxygen. All varium is linked to this plane. Perhaps by a fluctuation in the interplanar system, a “portal,” varium entered our universe. There are several ways it could have entered Delta V: - The portal opened in several locations in the crust of Delta V.
- The portal opened in open space, other materials were gravitated toward it, and the process formed Delta V.
- Delta V has unique core materials that attract varium to it. This is the least likely possibility.
All varium is linked to its original plane, and serves in itself as a means to go back there. It selects a human, and uses the same power of conscious suspended animation to encompass that human. This affects the human’s brain--giving that human a unique, unearthly knowledge of machinery--and cellular structure--giving them the ability to store and release energy. The primary function of this, though, is to bring the varium back to its plane. With their amazing powers, Tech Mages are also given the ability to interfere with the interplanar fabric. This allows them to open new portals to the varium plane, therefore being able to return the varium to its original location. If this theory is true, it means some startling things. First of all, it means that varium is conscious (or at least semi-conscious) or that there is a conscious power behind it. Second, it means that by teleporting varium via the alternate dimensional plane, we are loosing it much more quickly than it is growing back. Third, it means that by controlling varium, you can control the minds and actions of Tech Mages. It leaves one to wonder just how Magistrate Baelius was able to recruit an army of Tech Mages at a time when they were a neutral people. If what I imply is true, it means that Baelius' Project Delta obsession might not have been by coincidence. I will not write too much of Baelius for fear that these files will fall into the wrong hands, so I end this theory before probing too deeply into the mind of the Overlord.
