Did they take away the need for AA to post in the gallery. You waste my valuable time trying to get approved and you take away my pride from being an AA...Disgusting!

Yes, they did. Circe stated it herself the reason why in this thread: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=18127556

Yeah, we did remove it. Sorry. Ultimately it was decided that we want the community at large to feel welcome participating in the forum rather than excluded based on membership or aptitude.

It's for the best, really. Enhancing the freedom to post in certain areas on the forums without having to be approved is good overall, espically to newcomers who have little knowledge of what's expected to be able to part in the CA. And besides, APs and AAs were the first to be affected. So, I guess this is alright. The forum is dynamic - it needs changes here and there for the community and the better good.

It's not as if you're losing any privileges, anyway. If you backed up all of your artwork like Khelios recommended, you didn't lose anything.

Actually, I want to say, it probably wasn't a waste. I feel the old approval process was very much a learning curve for some people. It teaches you how you should properly CnC artwork, so you'll be ready and equipped for the Gallery. After all, understanding how to criticise others art properly can help you improve your own art, since you start to understand the techniques and begin to apply them to your own art. So all in all, the approval process can only help you, and help you help others. I don't see how all of that can be a waste.

I understand how you could be a little upset about it, but what you've got to remember is that now, the Gallery will be more active, since the approval process was quite daunting for some, this consequently will mean you'll get more CnC therefore meaning you'll improve faster. It's really a good thing, more people criticising, you improve faster.

Khelios said himself, you've got to give the changes a go before you decide you don't like them. It will help in the long run.

Honestly getting to be an Approved Artist wasn't too hard. Making two pieces of art and following _Depression's tutorial would have made you an Approved Artist from the first time.
Be proud about your art, not about your group membership.

Speaking of that thread, does anyone have my "Guide to Approval"? I like to archive posts like that, ever since I lost my "Keep the Gallery Alive" post. =(

I never even saw Depression's tutorial actually. I'm really annoyed with it cause it took me 4 tries to get approved...Anyhoo thanx.
