These purposes won't be separated. Character advice is a form of question in any case, and there were significant issues with a forum specific to character advice.
Quickly looking through the forum, it seems as though less than half of the threads on the first page of the forum are asking for character advice. Though questions can generally be answered in a smaller number of posts than requests for character advice, the good thing about that forum if you like to answer questions is that questions keep coming. :P
If you don't see a question you can answer, check again in a few minutes. Chances are, there will be a new thread to look at. And thank you for your interest in answering questions. :)
