I would like to suggest such a mechanism where we will be able to see wether our sent messages have been read or not by going to the sent messages area.
For eg.

".........." Read

".........." Unread

Just so that we can know that our PM has been read and not ignored.
Wether the receiver replies or not is none of our business.
But just so that we are not in darkness.

I believe such a function is already in place, when you go to PM somebody, "Request read receipt" is displayed as a tick box at the bottom.

If you save sent PM's you can click on the recipients name in your sent box to see if they've read it
