=ED= Concerning Varium/Pricing Discussions

NW just made a thread where he explains the varium pricing. What you think of it?

Simple question for him to answer if possible:
-If the community grows, and the number of people who buys varium raises, will you lower the BP's / varium prices?

Link to thread added. ~Mecha

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 12:09:21)

I read it , for me i dont care varium prices but i care at Beta we could get atleast 10 weps with 10k but now with enhancements its 3-4 weps only with 10k varium.
They dont need to lower prices but maybe making enhancements with only credits will be good , with this low lwls can do enhancement too , if we make it with only credit , ppl will work for doing enhancements in all weps and that will be enjoyable 100k for 10 enhance is too high maybe 1k for first and 10k for 10 enhance is more logical

BlueKatz -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 12:21:16)

idk, as a player still enjoy this game (even i buy varium only once because I don't have enough money now and using Mage, a very slow and not as OP as other class build) I really understand the staffs, I don't want to press 'em, but I think there indeed some features they should reconsider hardly

Drianx -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 13:33:59)

As long as ED will remain a PVP-and-not-much-else, 99% of the players only buy varium for spending on better weapons/armors. Seriously, there is not much else to buy especially after reaching level cap. This is what actually forces devs to concentrate on releasing better and better weapons on a regular basis.

I think as long as the game will not get improved with really exciting new features and dimension for the players to spend varium on, more and more powerful varium weapons will keep coming for us to buy, and the existing top ones will get obsolete shortly.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 13:55:40)

I appreciate Nightwraith's response as well.

I personally feel to entice more people to play, the evolvement of community elements need to be placed. One aspect that AQW makes the game fun for many, is because, it is a social group game. The system is designed where players of all levels and budgets can play equally and be effective within the enjoyment.

I am hoping and still do, that housing element of Epic Duel will continue to advance. Many who had purchased these did not do it for a achievement but in progression of community.

Many of elder players understand the challenges of expenses, but many of us also know this game can expand beyond it's pvp limits and provide major enjoyment as a true multi-elemental game.

Unlike any other game, this game revolves around the individual players. We have heros, villains and every type of persona who acts behind the class they wield.

I made a quote in some posts prior "Once a business behaves like a business..."

As critical and difficult in the nature of my opinions, I highly respect and care about everyone in this game. Nothing in life is perfect and always needs constant adjusting and reevaluation. I think this is understood, but the main issue keeping the game balanced from every single angle from class balance to economic. Draining the core of players that have stayed and supported will not aid the game, yet how does one add new players to the game?

Many will continue to support the game as long as they are able, but the game needs to add substance for playing pvp. A reason... I have my personal opinions on some possible angles; I have stated in all forums, and many others have as well. Happy players will bring in new players by word of mouth; this is the best way.

For Tiago X: Pls Link Nightwraith's response to your first post. :)

Pyronix15 -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 14:09:06)

You have to give them credit for acknowledging our theory's on class changes, the aqw staff would never have the kidney stones to do that.

I believe what NW said about really trying to fix the balance, I just think its to late to fix it, too many changes have been made, we need to wipe the slate clean and try again is all.

Tiago X -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 14:40:06)

@Jzaanu : Will do :D

bighobbo -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 16:13:25)

Yeah, balance is really messed up in so many ways right now.

Mr.Pablo Jr. -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 16:22:34)

I'm glad Nightwraith is paying attention to us and letting us know he is listening. This shows he actually cares about the players and he's even talking about varium sellback! It was a great post and I'm starting see hope for free players also.

He Who Lurks -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 16:31:10)

Saying is one thing, doing is another.

Shadronica -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 16:42:29)

While it is a nice sentiment for Titan and Nightwraith to acknowledge our concerns the bottom line from his message is that if we don't like it then consider leaving.
I do feel duped.

Fay Beeee -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 17:24:15)

Well I knew it was a pay for game when I joined up.

I totally understand that things have to be paid for. IMO I also think that because it is a PVP it needs more coding and work that other games. It is also sill in a learning curve and without us buying the varium it could not continue. So while I can and when I can (not always) I will buy it to support the game. I commend all of the hard work that the guys have done so far. I wish them good luck for all the work they are still putting in, and I hope continue to put in for the future.
I am sure that a lot of this will settle down when we are out of the test stages.

Although I do find it expensive, it is my choice to buy or not to buy.

edwardvulture -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 18:59:08)

Essay of the year, I'm impressed. Who was raising those boycotts?

Rush -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/26/2011 22:17:49)

I like that he responded. NW has a way with words. The only direct answer he gave (and even that was under valued) was varium sellback

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 1:51:52)

@edwardvulture

Idk , i dont see anybody did a boycott , i find prices high but still buying varium and i will continue , the thing i want is i said above

InTheSky -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 2:45:32)

The response everyone got was basically "PAY OR DIE"

But, I'm glad he actually took the time to type a response.

King FrostLich -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 6:42:15)

It's too bad this guy quitted and sold all his stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWcmtmorrQ0 I guess he wasnt patient enough, oh well :/.

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 7:09:23)

@Frostlich,and can you guess why?People need to learn that just because nightwraith or titan are game developers,they're still people.People seem to think that the word developer refers to a god of some sort that can't ever be wrong.

It's going to take more than that block of text that nightwraith wrote to prove wrong people like angels holocaust and buffy a summers.Every time they write something you just know something is gonna be exposed.They're the type of people that speak the truth no matter what,and their opinions aren't influenced or changed by what other people think.

They talk about long time promises that were promised a year or something ago that at the time was ''coming shortly'' according to the developers.Since the majority of people on here are still school goers,it's only natural for them to eat anything you say like a sweet piece of cake.

But there comes a time when foul play is suspected by many.Are you telling me that ALL long term players that have expressed their thoughts on everything they feel is out of hand,are wrong?Highly unlikely,nightwraith also calmly stated that if you don't like the game then you should quit.

I myself am fairly new,iv'e played at beta when AE bought the game,but stayed logged out for a year.Iv'e recently started playing,and let me tell you something.Balance isn't a priority here.Buster bunker and high support mercs are the strongest here and it hasn't been balanced in the few months iv'e been playing.

Str bounty hunters became overpowered and were mysteriously nerfed after a month.Are you seriously telling me there's no hidden motive behind all this?

Then nightwraith goes on to say that people who support the game need to get a slight edge,that's common knowledge and i FULLY agree,otherwise how can the game be funded?

But by edge he meant total domination and i think it should have been written that way.

quote:

I think the ratios would stay the same: more players puts more stress on the servers, but also provides more chances for Varium purchasing.

I'm really glad that Nightwraith addressed the concerns. :)

King FrostLich -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 7:47:48)

@Deadly Poison:

You dont have to write a long essay bout that but at some point, I really cant understand why people buy varium to just enjoy a single game for pleasure and they'd just quit after people are getting OP. If I were him, he would have thought of a better build I mean he even had a Gamma Bot with the beta weapons. Besides everyone playing ED is a human being not some insane stupid machine that will automatically give updates and being told what to do or being demanded at. Angels, Buffy and the other people however, wasting money in this game was their most fatal mistake yet even with varium, they cant make good builds out of it. I play this game for fun not for the pleasure of beating people worldwide.

Deadly PoisoN -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 8:59:49)

@Frostlich,when expressing my concerns the last thing i'm worried about is how long it is.I'm not a lazy person and can boast a healthy vocabulary for a non english person.This is a pvp game and if you don't play to defeat people then you probably collect trophies and what not.We all play different,but the problems lie in the quantity of people complaining about the SAME thing.

Why would they?Like i said,nightwraith is a human being,lying is as natural to him as to you and myself.Half the things he said in his block were things that i never agreed with because they simply made no sense if you compare it with WHY people thought what they did.But like he said,the fifth amendment doesn't apply to the AE forum.I might not be american but i know what that means.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 9:05:27)

Let's see if he keeps his promises, anybody can just say stuff to make people trust them. Let's see if things actually get better in three months.

Larcell -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 9:42:22)

That's what I was waiting to hear: a response! Well, while they settle things on their end, I'm going to keep fighting. [8D]

BurningFlames -> RE: Thanks for listening. (1/27/2011 12:24:30)

I have a steady job that allows me to buy varium at a minimum rate of once a mouth which is fine with me, I love the fact of having rares Etc. :D

But something I might want to see in the future (Hopefully they get along to reading this :D) Is possibly a membership play (If the community grows) Where if your a member (Like in battleon) you can buy member items (But instead of a one time payment like battleon) It will be ( A monthly payment ) But NW and Titan if you do read this please make it that you agree to the terms and it will charge (For Example) your credit card everyone month so you don't have to constantly put your credit card info... :D I have high hopes for this game! And I will always buy varium as long as rares keep coming with it :D
