He Who Lurks -> A Valid Reason Why There's A Large Rift Between Non-Varium? (2/20/2011 9:16:13)

As we all know, non-varium players are commonly considered weak compared to non-varium players between the levels of 29-32. Now, I've actually been on the side of Non-varium gaining an extra boost, but after an coincidence with a thread I've created, I've contemplated about a possible reason to the huge rift. This may seem a bit indirect, but the rift lies between how much varium a weapon may cost. I've noticed how weapons(primarily swords) at level 28 which cost varium, cost what would be considered a low amount to today of about 280 varium. Than at level 29, the cost more than doubled to about 900. Why did this happen? To put it simply, varium weapons did not have much of boost compared to non-varium weapons.

For example, at level 28 the non-varium weapon known as " Martial Great Sword" has a damage of +27, and stat modifiers of +12. Not only that but cost 8000 credits. If we were to compare this non-varium weapon to a varium weapon of the same level, how about " Elite Energy Sabre"? 27+ damage, and stat boost of 17, cost 6800 credits, and 280 varium. That's only 5 more compared "Martial Great Sword". Let's try to compare weapons at level 29 now. " Great Strife Sword", +29 damage, stat boost of +9, cost 7225 credits. 3 stats lower than Martial Great Sword. Let's compare this to " Tech Cleaver 2", which has 28+ damage and 16+ stat boost, but cost 10400 credits and 950 varium? Let's try comparing one last set of weapons. "[http://epicduelwiki.com/index.php/Heavy_Mech_Staff]Heavy Mech Staff[/link]" which deals 29+ damage, 11+ stat boost and cost 9775 credits. Let's compare this to " Alien War Axe" 30+ damage and 18+ stats, cost 10500 credits and 975 varium.

Now that we're done here. Do you believe you have valid explanation on the rift? Does this change your statement on increasing the power of non-varium? After seeing the rift of level 28-29, I've realized that there's a reason our weapons are much more powerful than non-varium players. To pay about 3 times the price, they pretty much had to boost weapons.

There's no hidden mystic or reason behind it all.The one weapon costs real money if you want to put it that way,so therefore stronger.

^Not all weapons in EpicDuel follow that law.

All goes back to PDs thread about stat inflation.

You might want to edit this. You're comparing one thing against itself.

I agree. there needs to be more non varium powerful rares ou there now. I have varium, but I ran out so fast. I beleive 50 dollors should get about 25,000. It is alot, but honestly, the AE team isn't really giving up that much when giving varium.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: A Valid Reason Why There's A Large Rift Between Non-Varium? (2/21/2011 10:40:49)

Well in my mind the price ranges for Varium really have to do with the raising level cap at lv 30 a weapon cost 900 varium at lv 31 it cost 1.5k varium for a time before dropping down to what we see today at 950 varium.

If you look at some of the "more important weapons" aka Auxs you see some interesting things(both from Law man)
Lighting Rod Lv 30 33+ damage 6+ stats 1k varium 11k credits(its one of the origanal Auxs)
Energy Sharkzooka lv 30 32+damage +8 stats 975 varium 10k credits(again one of the origanal Auxs)

wouldnt you say those weapons are pretty much the same but for 1 less damge and 2 more modifers you save 25 varium and 1k credits

now for one of the zookas that had a long run in ED history(both from mort)
Zeuszooka lv 30 31+ damage +15 stats 1.1k varium and 12k credits
Devastator Lv 30 32+ damage +10 stats 975 varium 11k credits
it seems that we are being charged more for Stat modifers than actual damage value

This is souly varium reasoning to show that it doesnt even make sence to itself

as for the rift between Varium and F2P they payed they should get better gear and im a F2P myself and i can fully agree with that logic

PD -> RE: A Valid Reason Why There's A Large Rift Between Non-Varium? (2/21/2011 15:26:31)

I won't elaborate, but here are the reasons why...

1. Lack of Standards
2. Stat Inflation
3. Un-equal Stat Values
4. Un-equal Skill Ratios
5. The Greed of the community that demands that all the newly released weapons be extremely powerful, and be at the highest level.

Keep in mind guys - It all comes together...

Note: I'll be making a post on how to Balance Epicduel. Perfectly, and forever. I've given the preview to a few trusted people, but look out for it. You'll need to.

Vick Vega -> RE: A Valid Reason Why There's A Large Rift Between Non-Varium? (2/22/2011 13:39:55)

The reason is that some people want something for nothing and others are willing to pay for it. Don't give me any crap about how some miniscule fraction of the ED community live in the boonies and don’t have payment options. It is a U.S. based game with a large percentage of its player base in U.S., Canada and Europe. I am personally sorry that they live in a place with limited resources but that is not something to model a for profit business around. Then you have the people who throw out the fact that many of the players are young and can’t afford varium. Well, get a job, mow a few lawns or shovel the snow out of some old people’s drive way depending on which hemisphere you’re in. The average American buys at least one McDonalds value meal $6 and rents two movies $4. Give them up and there is your monthly varium package! Whoo hooo! The reason there is a rift is because there are people like me who buy varium and couldn’t care less about how you feel about it (and yes I do expect there to contue to be more things to spend my varium on and they should be powerful). Then there are those who sit around and cry about the fact that there are people like me in the world. Awwwwe.

Finally, I have varium like Mr T. has gold and there are free players who can beat my build on a good day. They are the ones who have been active enough to grab up the good non-varium promos, make a great build and play intelligently.
