i was just reading a topic about mages new skill and someone suggested it having a 25% crit chance. i do find it odd how mages dont have a 25% crit chance skill but the other 2 types do.

Plasma Bolt should ignore 20% resistance and have a 25% crit chance. It could make having a caster build worth it and even slightly effective.

In that case, They would have to nerf the damage slightly, as a maxed plasma bolt can do up to 60, where bunker does around 55.

^Increases by 3 every level up to 5, then increases by 2 until 10? That would make it the same as Bunker Buster.

@Below That may be but in all honesty it has nowhere near the power that Bunker Buster has.

O.o a Maxed Plasma bolt already deal a lot of damage as it is.

It currently has nowhere near BB's power because of Bunker's bonuses. Add those bonuses to Plasma BBolt and we would NEED to nerf the damage.

What's the point of the game if all the class skills are completely the same?
Bunker Blaster and Plasma bolt should not be the exactly same skill. (Except one being energy and the other being physical)

Well there's not exactly a wide variety of bonuses to choose from. And leaving the weaker skills with no bonuses doesn't help.

Well, Plasma Bolt is already a strong skill.
But what the other skills you mentioned in the other thread? Such as Plasma Rain, Assimilation and that physical stab thingy.
Why not think of a way to power those up instead since they are the ones listed UP'ed.

glad my topic getting some support, and @nova not asking all class's to be same just think if the other 2 have a skill with 25% critical why shouldnt we?

ok i use technician then plasma bolt with 15% res ignore and 30% chance to crit

lets see every1 switch to mages and use that tactic.

Thats why u havent got a BB or cheapshot because u already have 2 great passives, deadly aim and reroute and to top that u have a resistance debuffer (malfunction) which is brilliant for debuffing these bot lovers

To be honest iv seen some great builds by mages lately and these people screamin shadow arts is OPed need to just take a look at mages. I think this game is actually starting to balance itself out, amazing what good build creation can do lol

Crits are still to often, reduce the crit % a little and game will be balanced.

You have mercs which use
Artillery
Bunker Buster
Zerker
Hybrid

You have mages which use
reroute+heal looping
Malfunction+deadly aim
+2 shields

Bh's use
Bloodlust
Smoke+Cheapshot
SA
+2 shields

adding this new effect to a mage skill would make mages OPed added in with technician
and class switching would be rampant, i for one am actually contemplating changing mage from merc now because u can
actually abuse technician with bots.

i like the part where you said mages already have 2 great passive skills, last time i checked bh has 2 great passive skills aswell and one of them allows him to heal even more when cheap shot criticals. also i never said to make plasma bolt have 25% critical they did, doesnt mean we cant add it to bludgeon or something that isnt based on tech. lol and another also we arnt the robot tech abuseres merc's can have 5 focus and still have 90+ tech without boost. so yea...

How about we equalize the Stat Values and the Skill Ratios first? THEN we'll talk about where these skills should have extra effects added to them.

Yes they need to make it have a chance of critical. The caster build is hard to achieve at higher levels.

Plasma Bolt is far from being overpowered. It shouldn't be exactly the same as Bunker Buster (save for the Damage Type), but it should still have some sort of special ability, like an added chance to Crit or ignored Resistance.

i rather bludgeon have it then plasma bolt, a strength build is hardly ever seen in mages and no dont take away the damage increase with lvling because cheap shot has the defence ignore with lvling and bunker buster has a damage increase with lvling, 20% defence ignore, and 25% crit.

Even as I hardly seem to say this, maximum crit chance in this game is 13%. There's no way it can max out to 14% or 13.0000000000000000000000001% unless its a skill that really gives extra chance to crit like bunker buster and cheap shot. It actually depends on the amount of support you have against your opponent.

Mages can reduce opponents' resistance by using Malfunction.

Mercenaries can't reduce opponents' defense/resistance, so maybe that's why some of the Mercenaries' skills have a defense reduction ability.

Bounty Hunters can lower defense but Cheap Shot still ignores defense. So that theory can't be right as Cheap Shot is pretty much a Bunker Buster that can be blocked.

^Not really. Adding a crit chance on to it has absolutely nothing to do with the skill. It drains energy, what does having a higher crit chance have to do with draining energy?
The skills like Plasma Bolt and Plasma Rain ( maybe not Rain because its multi ) would fit a crit chance better, since they are a mages high damage skills.
