Peachii -> MQ Pedia Addition (2/22/2011 5:11:46)

First of all, hi everyone!

I've recently work on the MQ pedia, and found that unlike other pedias ( AQ pedia/ DF pedia), there is no Info Submission Board! This is important, as those working on the MQ Pedia can post corrections, additional information and replies to the Info Submission Board, for AK or mods to be taken care of.

Next, I would like to suggest locking up replies:

First, this would prevent unwanted/unnecessary replies (such as corrections to the entry which can be done by PM or Info Submission, and I found that in some entries, some people are even asking questions in entries and the other answering, which aren't supposed to do so!)

Second, helping to maintain a clean pedia for everyone who wanted to check for information there.

For someone who wanted to post a reply or information to an existing entry, he/she can place them in the Info Submission or PM an AK/mod to help out.

Any suggestions/feedback can be given by all means! Thank you! (Basically this is almost/part of it is the same as the other 2 pedias)

Suggestions by everyone for improving the MQ pedia:
- Adding an Info Submission Board
- Locking up replies
- Guidelines imposed to the pedia
- NPC dialogue added to NPCs
- appointing MQ pedia ArchKnights and moderator
- Seasonal Tags added
- Squashing bugs/correcting errors found in the pedia
- Adding groups such as DF pedia's DragonPedia Masters to prevent unnecessary posts
- Misc Items section needs to be added: for Ammos, Valor Badges, etc

Highlord Sendai -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/22/2011 6:49:21)

I agree to this.

I have helped out myself and found that it was a mess.

And a Info Submission Board has defiantly been on my list of Forum Suggestions, but never actually got round to suggesting it.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/22/2011 7:09:57)

The main problem with the MQ Pedia is its lack of info and organization. Few people work on it and the entries have all sorts of disparities. MQ Pedia needs more guidelines, period, so yes, I agree with your suggestions.

Highlord Sendai -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/22/2011 9:24:07)

I had a quick disscussion with Peachii, and we agree'd to go through the Pedia and try and add the entries ourselves.

We could probably do with some help.

Also, the NPC's entries could do with a Dialogue area, where we put the stuff they say.

Stephen Nix -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/22/2011 13:52:05)

Very well put Peachii, but if I may say something a pedia that holds no AK's is no pedia at all imo

there's no rights and regulations like elsewhere....its just anyone's opinion on how an entry should be done, is done the way they think its right.....in other words, its a mess in the MQ Pedia! Please hire some AK's or move people around to get order in that place!

To all the above statements whats the point of the info submissions......if theirs no AK's haha, no one to sign you off!

Peachii -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 0:05:35)

Thank you everyone for the feedback!

@Highlord Sendai: Yeap, indeed, a lot of things in the MQ pedia needs to sort out, and unnecessary replies need to be deleted, information needs to be gathered, and many more! I believe with the Info Submission board, those helping out the MQ pedia can post corrections, additional information, links etc so that AKs/Mods can help to correct them. :)

@ArchMagus Orodalf: Indeed, those missing information are the critical ones which needs to be gathered and organized. Also, rules needs to be enforced, so that the pedia can be kept clean and regulated. :)

@ Stephen Nix: I believe what you meant is that there are AKs in the MQ pedia but they hardly regulate them ^_^ That's because there's no Info Submission board to post those corrections, informations etc! I do agree that more AK is needed to help out! :)

I welcome more comments and feedback! ^_^

Highlord Sendai -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 7:48:50)

To be honest, we need two or three new Archknight's there to help sort it out.

But another thing I noticed, where are our Seasonal Tags like Mogloween. Infact, I think I might make some later today.

turtledude -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 8:01:25)

This is highly needed.
I don't know how many times I've seen bugs in the MQ encyclopedia, sadly, there was no way to report them. :(

Peachii -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 8:43:53)

@Highlord Sendai: Seasonal Tag is currently not needed, as there's a rare tag available! :)

@turtledude: Haha! ^_^ *Buggy MQ pedia needs Info Submission!*

Silver Xoven -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 10:13:43)

I'd suggest a thing that DF pedia has: the Dragonpedia Masters.

Only people who have "joined" the group of Dragonpedia Masters are allowed to post an actual entry in the 'pedia, preventing from asking questions and other things that Peachii mentioned.
I think this is a very good way of maintaining order in the 'pedia.

But more on topic, yes, Info Submission is a perfect way to get information to the 'pedia.

Stephen Nix -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 16:13:53)

lets check something here.....are there any AK's in MQ..... Nope

Hmmmmm, this could be a problem! I do however see Icy but that's it!

Peachii -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/23/2011 23:59:27)

@Nix: Oh I see! those AK got moved to help others, and some got demoted ;( Now I strongly agree more AK needs to be hired!!!

@Silver: I agree on this too! Maybe a Mechpedia Captain? :D

Added my suggestion: Misc Items section needs to be added! For Ammos, Valor Badges, etc!

Double post merged. ~Icy

sky222 -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/27/2011 4:52:27)

100% support
Theres only one person to keep things there in order...and he/she last logged on 2 months ago

ZanpakuTô -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/27/2011 13:05:21)

It was highly debated when I was an AK in the pedia. I believe we disregarded it because people could post freely, but I'm not entirely sure. We were working on a system, but it sorta died >.>

sky222
Apparition isn't in charge anymore. I don't think there is anyone in charge, with the biggest candidate being Icy

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/27/2011 14:44:21)

Odd how there are people listed under the AK lists but not in the group. Either way, a new system is needed...

PD -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/27/2011 23:11:26)

Since this is about MQ Pedia, I should say something about this...

1. Making a MQ Contemporary of DragonPedia Masters would NOT work unless there were a lot more (and I mean a LOT more) than the available manpower that exists in the present state of affairs.

2. Yes, there ARE no MQ Pedia AK, and there are NO Head Moderators. And note - Hiring more AK's would do NOTHING unless they were given a quota. Back in my days as a MQ Pedia AK, even with a team of 5 AK's (and 2 mods), were never finished making entries for releases; Rather, we always left significant amounts of information missing. Giving some sort of quota for this would solve it indefinitely, but forced work is not the way to go. Pedia AK's were never given a status quota, meaning that we were supposed to finish things at our own pace - The Result? We despite the fairly large Pedia team, still fell behind on things - MANY things.

3. The Pedia indeed has Required Templates and the such - However, that came much later. Like 2008.

4. Making it so that replies are locked and replaced with info subs would be a BAD idea - For one, there are NO Pedia AK's, meaning there will be a lot of corrections be found, but nobody to fix them. It's much easier to point out corrections and make minor additions than to make an entire pedia entry, from template up.

Peachii -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/28/2011 0:53:36)

Thanks everyone, I welcome all feedback/suggestions by all means! :)

@sky222: Thanks for your support! ZanpakuTô mentioned very clearly about the moderator :)

@ZanpakuTô: Yep, the purpose I've made this suggestion is to try to revive the MQ pedia. Apparently, a lot needs to be done, and I believe this can be done! :)

@ArchMagus Orodalf: Haha, the lists has no purpose currently. Also, I agree a new system is needed, to impose new rules, adding AKs, and appoint a moderator for the pedia. :)

@PD: Well, you list down a LOT of points that are very reasonable!

1) I believe there are about 300+ DragonPedia Masters, but if you've noticed, the activity level has gone down to less than 25 people actively involving in the DF pedia! But the DF pedia is still up-to-date, and the entries are trying to get information from those rares, and old information, as much as possible! :) For MQ pedia, I believe there is no reason to NOT create a group if there are few people actively involving. Since the amount of releases have gone down, the entries needed for pedia will be lessen too! :)

2) That's a reason for suggesting to appoint more AKs and a head moderator! As pointed out in No. 1, a group is needed so that even the members can help to create entries if necessary. I don't think quota is needed, making sure that some work is done for a week will be the best :)

3) A lot of implementations require time! Same as enforcing rules to the pedia :)

4) As said in point No. 2, appointing more AKs and a head moderator is the best option. Also, the purpose of having an Info Submission board is to ensure corrections can be pointed out, or even PM the entry owner to correct the mistakes. The purpose of locking up replies is to ensure that no unnecessary posts is being posted. :)

Ashari -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/28/2011 2:40:59)

I could see a Mechpedia Masters group working. This isn't going to lower the activity of the MQ Pedia. The regular contributors will the ones in the group; all this does is prevent other posters from wandering into the encyclopedia and posting in the wrong place. The members of the group are going to be expected to follow the guidelines, so it just serves to reduce the amount of cleanup work that the Pedia AKs and Mods will have to do.

An Info Submission section is an absolute must if you expect non-AKs to be able to contribute corrections and updates to existing posts. PMs aren't a good way to handle an encyclopedia. Contributors need to have an idea of what everyone else is working on so there aren't multiple people spending time on the same thing. This of course means the Pedia needs a few AKs to edit in these corrections.

Another thing that would help would be to keep a weekly To-Do list. This would just be a checklist with the title of each equipment, enemy, or quest that was released that week. This would help keep track of what's been done and what is still missing so that the Pedia doesn't fall behind.

This works for the New Releases sections of both the AQW and ED Wikis. These aren't just a quick listing for viewers, but also a great resource for the editors to see what needs to be worked on.

----
@Peachii: I just feel like there's a lack of organization in the MQ Pedia that's hurting it most. If the forum provided posters an easier method of contribution (via an info submission board), then you'd probably see a nice increase in Pedia activity.

Silver Xoven -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/28/2011 3:37:20)

I agree with Peachii, if they hire maybe 10 active MQ Pedia AKs, the system would work. And a Head Moderator is a MUST for every Pedia.

@Ashari: Also supporting the To-Do list idea.

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/28/2011 16:41:18)

quote:

Rather, we always left significant amounts of information missing.

That's also a problem. The Staff need to give stats as they do in their other games.

And my own two cents about Pedia-ing... it actually gets you more into the game and vice versa. I've lost interest in DF because I don't Pedia for DF anymore and vice versa, while my WF/AQ interest is growing because I Pedia for both. This is another problem, since very few people play MQ anymore... right now, the number is only around 1000. This is reflected in the number of staff on the team.

Clyde -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (2/28/2011 21:11:50)

I'm glad people are taking interest in the welfare of MQ Pedia, warms my heart. *sniff*

First off, for people just starting to post in the MQ Pedia it would be greatly appreciated if you please take a look at this: MQ Pedia and You(Simple Reminder).

Just letting you know that I'm definitely keeping an eye on these suggestions and that roughly 99% of them have already been talked about. XD

Also letting you know that it's being taken care of and that MQ Pedia hasn't been completely abandoned so do not worry. :P

Peachii -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (3/2/2011 5:18:36)

Again, thanks for the feedback/suggestions :)

@Ashari: Mechpedia Masters and Info Submission needs to implemented! As for the To-do-list, it is a very nice idea! However, I noticed there's an Incomplete Post List for all sections to keep track of missing/incomplete entries, but sadly it hasn't been updated for a long time :(

I agree on the easier method for contribution, Clyde just posted the links above! ;p

@Silver Xoven: 10 ArchKnights?! Well, not so much, I suggest maybe 5 or 6 will do :)

@ArchMagus Orodalf: I agree, you get to know the story when typing out the contents. As for the players in MQ, basically more players moved onto other games, some of us like me would play occasionally, like during tea breaks :)

@Clyde: I like the guide, thanks for creating! I'm sure that will benefit those who are confused when posting on the pedia. :)

Silver Xoven -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (3/2/2011 6:00:34)

@Peachii: Five or six will do, but they'd have to be active.

Peachii -> RE: MQ Pedia Addition (3/3/2011 22:32:09)

Thanks for all the feedback/suggestions!

Since everything has been taken note of, lock please!

Locked per request. ~Icy
