Well, if you look through that thread, it tells you how to download and start the program. Once you've done that, you need to login. Any name will do as you can change it numerous times. Once within, you'll want to register your "nick". This will allow you to get in certain rooms. I believe the system should provide a prompt for it. After registering your nick and then verifying it from your email, you're ready to join L&L!
Clicking on the Channels button will show you all of the available channels. Scroll until you see something interesting. Since I can't find what L&L's channel is I'll just give you a generic example:
/join #<insert room here>
If that doesn't help, could you be a bit more specific? :P
