Rise of a Dragonlord Book 1: Fallen Angel Chapter 1: A Flash Into The Past A dark night.........a young man lying on a lonely cobbled path....... bleeding from head to toe........heavy rain..........person is wearing a black cloak..........a white bladed sword lying a few steps away.............darkness. It was a fine morning and the sun was shining all over Falconreach and the surrounding places. Suddenly, a roar echoed all over the place, far away, near the hills, flew a mighty green dragon, it's eyes as fiery as burning coals, it vigorously flapped it's wings trying to gain altitude. It flew and reached a cliff face, as soon as it rose over the edge, a man in a blue armor came running at full speed and jumped off the cliff edge and landed right on the dragon's back grabbing it's neck spike to avoid falling off. The Dragon had seen him jump on its back and it let out another mad roar, then it suddenly stopped beating it's wings and glided slowly, softly, losing altitude, when it came close enough to the ground, it folded it's wings and landed with a thud, but the man in the blue armor didn't let go, he pulled out a short sword from his belt and with a flip, somersaulted off the Dragon's back and landed on his feet a few paces away. The Dragon started walking slowly, eying the man, walking with measured paces. The man wore an unusual smile on his face as he circled in front of the Dragon. Then he put two fingers to his lips and whistled loudly. Silence. Very soon, a beat of wings could be heard, another Dragon flew out from over the high cliff face and flying closer to the ground, landed beside the man. It was a dark brown dragon with a scar on it's right eye. 'You should know better than to come uninvited Lancelot.'boomed the Green Dragon. 'You should know better than to keep your scaly hands off Oaklore.' answered back the man called Lancelot. 'I went there on personal business, nothing to do with your family.' said the Dragon. 'Should I assume then that Rolith lied to me?' asked Lancelot getting a sterner look on his face. 'Rolith, ahh.... the Knight with a young heart, most charming, what did he tell you?' said the Dragon toyingly. 'He told me that you went to Oaklore yesterday and terrorised a convoy of Rolith's men trying to get to King Alteon with supplies of food.' answered Lancelot. 'Terrorised? That Knight wouldn't know the meaning of the word, I went there simply for a chat.'said the Green Dragon flexing it's great wings. 'Don't lie to me. Eldrangier can fry you where you stand, Wraith!!' spat Lancelot pointing at the Dragon challengingly. 'What did you call me?Wraith? You dare insult me because I don't have a rider!! How dare you!!!' threatened the Green Dragon with a gout of fire. 'Silence!!!' roared Eldrangier standing up to his full height.'Explain yourself petty mongrel, or it's my flames that will burn you.' 'I don't have to explain myself to you, inexperienced lizard!!' roared back the Dragon.'I hate that Knight and I hate Lore, they have denied me the pleasure of a loving, caring rider, I might as well burn down both Falconreach and Oaklore.' The Green Dragon opened it's wings to their full span and leaping off the ground, angled towards Falconreach. 'Go daddy go!!Go.'came a voice from the cliff. Looking up, Lancelot saw his son, Arthur standing there with Arthur's teacher Lord Ariel, a man who is famous for being skilled with dual daggers. Lancelot smiled and climbed onto Eldrangier. 'Get that mongrel!!' Eldrangier took off with a roar and climbed higher as he flew after the Green Dragon who hadn't gone too far. The Green Dragon looked back and kept flying, soon Eldrangier caught up with him and rammed him on his right flank sending him spiralling downwards, but the Dragon gained control and rose higher trying to get back at the brown dragon. As soon as he and Eldrangier were side by side, Eldrangier again rammed him, this time Lancelot took advantage of the short moment of contact and leapt off his dragon and barely managed to grab the other dragon's neck spike. Then he angled his sword downwards and drove it into the soft scales on the green Dragon's neck. The sword went halfway in and the Green Dragon roared in agony, the brown Dragon hooked his claws onto the green Dragon's flanks and bit into it's wing bone and held them between his jaw. Lancelot pulled out his sword and took a slash at the left wing bone of the dragon severing it half. The Green Dragon cried out and began losing altitude, when it was terrifyingly close to the ground, Lancelot jumped back onto Eldrangier who in turn let go of the green Dragon. The Dragon fell to the ground with a ground shaking thud and lay there, dead. Lancelot had succesfully completed one more of the tasks assigned to him by Rolith. He laughed as he held out his open arms to his son as the child ran over to him and jumped onto his shoulder. 'You grow better,'said Lord Ariel putting an arm on Lancelot's shoulder. 'It always feels great when an old friend complements your efforts.' said Lancelot as he placed his hand on Lord Ariel's back. He laughed all the way to Oaklore, a friend by his side, a son on his shoulder, a sword in his belt and a Dragon overhead. What else does a Knight need? Those were happy days, happy memories.
