One Winged Angel1357 -> Arcade (3/6/2011 20:54:16)

Ok we all know the arcade and 90% of us think the Arcade is a BT pit(and we are right i promise) but thats all we do is we complain.

Now ive learned from reading around that "Sorry, Try Again" is 72.4%. The other 27.6% is when you actually win something. Now what if we added a small 25 Credit Prize instead of No Prize would that be Economical Game breaking for ED.

You earn 100 credits thats about 32 credits a win times 100 thats 3200 credits at the least, not much you can do with that now is there.
Now you get say 24 wins(20 off of the origanal tokens 4 more off the 20 wins) that 768 credits off of the 32 credit basis, Your now at 3968 credits you can still do nothing with that. Now say you get no prize everytime, your running your worst luck, you still have nothing you can do with those credits,saying you were broke to start. Now say you remove No Prize and give 25 credits every time thats an extra 600 credits your now at 4558 still nothing but more than what you started with.

Now for the real math still 24 wins with that 27.6% prize rate and lets say the prize is always 100, thats 6.624 prizes so for numbers sake i will do the math for 7 and 6.

You start with 3968 credits from before prizes off the last example, you follow? Now you add in 450 for 18 25 credits and then 600 for the 6 100 prizes and your at 5018. And without the 25 credit prize your at 4568 credits total.
Or you do the 7 100 prizes and 17 25 prizes and you end up with 5093 total credits earned. And without the 25 credit prize your at 4668 credits total.

Now for the end results:

No Prize at all: 3968 Credits
25 credits: 4558 Credits
6 100 prizes and No prize: 4568 Credits
6 100 prizes and 18 25 prize: 5018 Credits
7 100 prizes and No Prize: 4668 Credits
7 100 prizes and 17 25 prize: 5093 Credits

Now that all the numbers are in front of you does that really seem Economicly Game breaking to you guys.

od -> RE: Arcade (3/6/2011 20:57:46)

All I can say is after getting assault bot, I'm not complaning anymore about arcade.

Wraith -> RE: Arcade (3/6/2011 21:39:50)

That would be ideal. But would it actualy happen? It's like finding a empty box. You spend a lot of time finding it. You peer into it. It could be empty, it coiuld have a bit o' stuff in it, or it could be really valuable. Look at it this way: Assault Bot is worth 12500 Credits and 1250 Varium(I think). That 1250 Varium is $10 If you were F2P, it would be like getting money from a game you paid nothing for.

Think of it that way.

Oh yeah, bikes are about 15 000 Credits and 1 500 credits each. Or 30 000 credits. Info from Valery. Either way, it is a lot. 1 500 Varium is a bit over $10. See what I have said above. and 15 000 and 30 000 credits are a lot for F2P players. 15000/32=468.75. Rounded to 469. That is about the amount of battles it would take for winning a Daily 1vs1. 30 000/32=937.5. Roughly 938 battles. If you were to 2vs2, 15 000/56=267.857142857142857142... That is 268 2vs2 battles. About one day's worth of work, wouldn't you agree? 30 000/56=535.714285714285714285... That's about 536 battles.

Calculate that, and then tell me it was not worth it. If you did over 400 battles and not get a house/Hoverbike/Assault Bot/10 000 Credits.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Arcade (3/6/2011 21:54:40)

If you go over my thoery im favoring Varium users in my Thoery as are you we are both going off of wins which we all know is easier for a Varium player if you would lose in the arcade you get 7 credits why reward a loser it defeats the point of winning.

Now if you think of it in Simple terms a F2P beats a Varium users about 15% luck involed 5% w/o Luck, You get a noob about 10% of the time in those 24 battles for a F2P 3-4 battles if the RNG is siding with you and 1 if RNG hates you against just Varium users. Now add in that 10% for noobs you get 3-7 wins for a F2P user in the arcade if your going for a bike your better off NPCing.

Also its Credits all you have to do to earn them is enter a fight and if your gonna put your battle trophy's up would you like to get something for them or throw them up in the air to win and still be cheated by the house(for none gamblers the house is the place of play)

also 400 arcade fights current standards is 289.6 No prizes and 110.4 Prizes

Sidenote, Hey Devs finally a topic and conversation based upon mathmatics thats something you dont see often

Ashari -> RE: Arcade (3/6/2011 22:16:40)

Ooh, looks like I inspired a thread! :P

I don't really have a big problem with the low percent chance to win with the arcade. You do get about 70% more credits from the arcade than if you were just battling, so it's not too bad. Besides most people don't do the arcade for credits, they do it for the house, assault bot or hoverbike. The big prizes make up for low win percent.

I do have an issue with it though. Unlike a real arcade, you can't win more rounds of play. By this I mean you can't win Battle Tokens back.

I was thinking a 5% chance to win 100 Battle Tokens would help ease the frustration a lot. So this would take the whole chance to win a prize up to 32.6%.

And here's some math to show that this wouldn't just create a massive excess of Battle Tokens. In fact even with a 5% chance to win them, you will still only be recouping about 20% of the Battle Tokens you spend. Also consider that if someone needed Battle Tokens for their faction flags, they wouldn't be doing the arcade in the first place in hopes of winning more.

The Math:
1000 Arcade Battles -- assuming 70% win rate
700 Wins * 0.326 = 228 prizes from the Arcade won (using new 32.6% chance to win something)
228 * 0.05 = 11.4 Battle Token prizes won = 1140 Battle Tokens won per 5000 spent

Even with 90% win rate, you will only get 1465 Battle Tokens back per 5000 spent.

I think this would be a pretty good way to "fix" the Arcade. I even added it to my suggestion post.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 7:30:18)

@Ashari you just gave me that final piece ive been looking for since the arcade was released.

Also i like the idea of a 5% chance of 100 BT's becuase even if you still lose half the time your getting into that feel that you won 20 more games and you will most likely end up playing 20 more games(Gambling logic you win a hand you play another hand).

After a good night of sleep something came to me. Most hardcore arcade players are low levels; they dont have a faction they; dont know/care about achievments, They do know that there is an arcade pod in every map. And giving my 5k credits to a Low level is sorta pointless(i won 5k from the arcade as a low level and i dont think ive spent it yet). But you have to give the player something to play for.

Ex. User A cant win in 1v1 or 2v2 but can win in NPC's. User A spends all time online fighting NPC's to get what it can only get sometimes from a normal fight. User A hears about a prize rate increase from the arcade so stops NPCing and trys the arcade. User A wins some prize(pick your poison of credits). User A keeps playing the arcade to win more prizes and thus the people who PvP can fight User A.

I know User A is only one person but im sure you can find many people like User A in ED, and my entire goals isnt really more prizes for those who play its to get some people into actully playing the game for what its worth and that is fighting other thinking creatures.(i think a monkey somewhere plays ED in fact that wouldnt suprize me at all)

5rr5 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 8:13:46)

Lol i wasted over 4000 tokens and didn't win anything so arcade is a hacker

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 10:28:33)

arcade is a token scam end of story full stop.

voidance -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 10:47:23)

Not really a scam, just really unlikely odds. I mean if you dont like factions or just choose not to join them, you have something to spend your tokens on other then achievements.

Secret1337 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 12:43:49)

I like the idé, make it happend. Becouse I (99% of all winning time) dont get nothing[:@]
only 2 prizes, 1 100cr and 1 50cr of over 200 BT, (and yes I won on them, my loosing is little over 15 BT)

Cookielord12 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 12:52:25)

lol all iev won from the arcade is hoverbike which is useless. hoverbikes need a proper function. we spend thousands of tokens/credits/varium and we get nothing more than a fashion accesory

simplified: hoverbikes and arcade is fail. getting hoverbike in arcade is failfail

SCORPIOZZz -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 13:02:30)

well i think im a lucky guy :) i got 2 accs in my 2nd account ( my alt ) i went for arcade in my 3rd win i got assault bot (what i was aiming for ) and stopped playing
then i went to my 1st acc ( this one SCORPIOZ ) and i ve spent over 1000 tokens and yet no prize higher then 500 credits !!! but still :) i prefer to exchange tokens with varium ( what bot costs ) ( and houses )

Excessive exclamation mark removed. ~AVA

B9000 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 16:08:59)

All I can say is I'm pretty frustrated at the 1000's of tokens I've spent, and still no assault bot. I wished the more you won at the arcade the better your chances become to win the jackpots in future wins (at least until you've won them each once). Or at least as mentioned above, let people win tokens back too. It's kind of discouraging to realize after all those tokens, I still have the same chances at wining the bot as some level 18 playing the arcade for his first time.

Well they are not a complete fail, moving around quickly is nice, I just wish the devs would follow through on their original idea:

quote:

EpicDuel Beta 1.0.7b Includes the following updates:

New Features

* Valestra's Arcade Open for Business!
* Use Battle Tokens to participate in a new battle mode with a chance to win HUGE credit bonuses or A COLOR CUSTOMIZABLE HOVERBIKE!
* This feature will make it much easier for us to build a system in which players can earn "drops" from battle victories!
* Hoverbikes move much faster than walking speed, and will eventually have the ability to "jump to" certain locations in future releases.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 18:49:03)

Well guys we have three theories down anyone else care to add in a theory(math is required for a theory)

voidance -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 18:57:11)

My theory is they are storing all the tokens spent on arcade fights in Charfade's vault so when she have enough she can take over every flag at once. Which will result in the death of DSX rain of power[:'(].

Oh and the math i used was (Charfade+Dev powers=Pwned)

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Arcade (3/7/2011 19:44:05)

Titan:

We already are offering some pretty crazy prizes in the Arcade, increasing the odds any more might damage the in-game economy.

I see the reverse happening a current weapon is from 10k-14k thats 313 wins-438 wins to earn the funds for the gear but if the prize handout for the arcade was increased that number drops radically the math has to many varibles to work but if you say you win 100 every 3rd fight you could double your output in the same number of fights at 20416 total after 313 wins in the arcade which is highly unlikely and not exactly game breaking for any user for can earn 313 wins with little issues. Also most users would stop playing the arcade when they got to there goal and most likely would not continue to earn the said double the wanted outcome.
