Cookielord12 -> the newer players (3/8/2011 13:45:52)

the newer players are really bad sometimes. a level 25 waited until i had kill one player until she attacked. i was like what are you doing! also a person didnt know what an auxillary was and a person left when she died and i was about to win
teh new players really frustrate me sometimes

what do you think about these type of players?

NewDuuDe -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 13:50:38)

#1: The person was AFK.

#2: Most likely didn't have elementary english skills.

#3: The player had on the "fast" thing, which makes he/she able to quit earlier than a person that has smooth on.

voidance -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 13:51:23)

So your saying that Everyone should just know how to play the game as soon as they start?

Cookielord12 -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 13:52:04)

1. the person was talking to me via ally chat during the time she was 'afk'
2. it says auxillary on your profile

no but by the time you are level 25 you should have a good idea how to play

voidance -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 13:59:21)

Some people arnt as fast learners when it comes to games. I've met many players that used starter weapons because they didnt know how to buy gear. (theres a lvl 31 maybe 32 by now that uses nothing but basic claws, she has like 5000 2v2 loss's and like 600-800 wins 2v2 wins. I've told her many times how to buy em but she just dont understand.)(You might have seen her, her name is a date, xx/xx/xxxx)

Larcell -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 16:08:52)

^ I've fought against that same person in 2v2 twice.

OT: It's cool that Titan has implemented an auto-battle for players who immediately start the game--they fight that city guard. I'm sure sometime in the future Titan will add some time of tutorial about the in-game profile and weapon-usage as an in-game feature. We NEED something like that.

Ashari -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 16:17:01)

We could really use an in-game tutorial on the basics. New players really are just dropped into the world and expected to know whats going on, so it's no surprise you'll get even high level players that don't know the ins and outs of the game.

I know I was still making mistakes back in beta for a long time. It wasn't until another player helped me out that I realized my build was terrible and that I was wasting stats all over the place. If you see players like that, help them out. Most of the time, they just don't know about resources like the forum and the wiki so it's a big help for them.

Maybe quests will help guide starting players.

@Larcell: The starting battle was a great idea but it's not in-game anymore for some reason. I hope it gets replaced by some tutorial or brought back.

Light Stridr -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 20:00:58)

Some guy at a higher level didn't kill the guy who could've healed in 2v2, that guy healed and we lost.
This is at mid-level btw, and I've had about 10 /facepalm moments in an hour. [:@]

stryker914 -> RE: the newer players (3/8/2011 21:07:02)

some of these noobs nowadays...*sigh*
ywah i know about being AFK i don;t know how many times i've had to go to the bathroom and ended up losing

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 0:20:09)

yes sometimes those low lvs in 2 vs 2 are quite really an annoyance especially when they leave you (yes leave, not battle fail to start or disconnect) even though the fight can be won

but this is a game, so what do you expect anyways? amazingly ED (the most adult-like AE game) is full of little kids

SMGS -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 0:49:52)

I know I had a hard time in my early levels, even buying a weapon was confusing at times.
We can't expect everyone to easily get acquainted with playing the game.

Please refrain from accusing others of cheating, posts relating to this have been deleted.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 9:39:45)

I have to agree we need a in-game tutorial badly I am sick of seeing ppl who dont know how to buy gear so they have only their primary noob weapons and some people dont even know what resistence and defence does.So they need to learn how to read before they play this game they must some little 7 or 8 year olds who cant read that well.Because it tells you the description of each thing on your profile and I seen them use really really bad grammar.

PlungerMistress -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 11:05:54)

If they don't know, tell them. Geez.

Algorithm -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 18:06:28)

I say since they now have Npc Chat in place, why not make a NPC just for the players that just started.
It could be like the feature they *had (It is removed now) where you started by challenging Light City Guard, but instead of Light City Guard saying mean stuff to the new players it could help them out. In example, you start as a Tech Mage when you fight the Light City Guard and strike first it could say "Hey you know you can use your spells in battle", or something similar to that.

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 20:21:42)

^ There really is no way that a tutorial can teach them how to play a PvP game
a person can learn about all the nooks and crannies of epicduel and still have 100 mp and 50 hp, they should really affect you unless in 2 vs 2

and you must note that loosing for most people aren't that big of a deal, for people with 1000's of wins, they try to preserve and better their win loss ratios while for others, this is nothing more than a game played for enjoyment and R&R

Algorithm -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 21:47:33)

^I am pretty sure if Titan tried he can make it happen ;).

Rabies -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 21:55:55)

I agree with Ashari, and personally instead of a Ingame tutorial, we just need a link to the ED Handbook that is displayed when you start the game, and it'd explain everything there is to know about the game.

voidance -> RE: the newer players (3/9/2011 22:12:15)

I'm bring Runescape into this because i loved this one thing they use in their game. When you progress a level in the game it shows you all the stuff you can weild, quest you can do, and a few other things. So basicly if they could add a popup type of thing that shows you what weapons you can weild and where they could be found i think that would help alot.

OhMyGoshness -> RE: the newer players (3/10/2011 0:58:18)

I was in a 2 on 2 battle.. a merc with 44 hp was malfed with 8-12 resistance left(armor included already)
it was my partners turn and the mercs turn was up next.. My partner could have used a lvl 5 plasma bolt, a lvl 5 overload, a strike(with an energy primary) or his energy zooka to dmg him enough so i could kill him in the next turn.. But instead of using these, he used BLUDGEON!! on a merc with max hybrid instead of using an energy attack.. I got so annoyed that i skipped all my turns just to annoy him back.

It's the same way with nearly all games that lack a tutorial or don't force you to run the one already given. But, with time everyone figures it out... Unless.. of course that someone decided to no longer play.

Anywho, it's almost like a trend or something now... Nearly all games these days (yes AE including yours :L) don't have a tutorial (or force you to use it...). It's causing many to suffer especially the fresh players.

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: the newer players (3/10/2011 1:02:58)

@OhMyGoshness: oh I do know how you feel, but as long as my team can still win, then I let it slide
but it's absolutely horrid when ur partner ruins a win for you because of 1 single wrong attack

voidance -> RE: the newer players (3/10/2011 1:08:08)

@OhMyGoshness
One of the risk of 2v2 is getting a new player, but thats no reason to sabotage a match because he didnt do the right move. Next time if something like this happens again instead of yelling at him try explaining to him what he could have done different to make his turn more effective.

dracule1984 -> RE: the newer players (3/10/2011 2:31:51)

it's no use.. Yesterday i had level 27 partner.. i was being focused fired so i was guiding the so called mage partner of mine.. and of no use.. i managed to get the bounty to 4 health instead of healing, thinking my partner will kill him.. he was rage so i told him to use his gun.. instead he said no to me and attacked him with his primary.. and as expected BH blocked.. he killed me and than the mage and we lost.. imagine the frustration i was going through . i wanted to quit ED there and than, but seeing all the vrium i bought i controlled .. what i want is.. yes there should be a tutorial system in the game plus.. why can't ED have a Varium dedicated server only .? like in AQ world where they have 2 servers only for members .?? this way battles will fair and things will be much more better..

Good luk

Light Stridr -> RE: the newer players (3/10/2011 13:38:54)

These new quests should include some sort of tutorial.
At least the players will know more stuff sooner.

ropeman23 -> RE: the newer players (3/10/2011 19:20:23)

The new noobs freak me out, of course it gets funny (to me) I sometimes find it as a joke, but those new noobs freak me out in the inside. And they don't even follow.
