button33 -> RE: new super staff? (3/18/2011 17:25:21)

Azarel is a good staff for support builds. I have gotten the tech requirement, 94 hp and 140 support in one build.
Azarel us not that weak. Each staff has it's own type of build.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: new super staff? (3/18/2011 17:28:28)

Serpent is good for Asim builds %2 chance is not little

Azrael good for support

Charfade good at Tank Mage

3 best staffs :D

Nebula -> RE: new super staff? (3/18/2011 18:45:08)

Actually, the best 2 staves are Charfade's Staff and Kringle Bot Staff. The Kringle Bot Staff outclasses Azrael on so many levels. Higher damage, better stats especially not giving a tech bonus while having a high tech requirement. It can have almost the same support as Azrael and give more dex.

The Serpent Warder is decent but Charfade's Staff is still better since it gives more balanced stats, 10 dex 8 tech and 7 support is a very good combination for a balanced build, however Serpent Warder is good for a support build as it can have up to 18 support.

voidance -> RE: new super staff? (3/19/2011 1:40:11)

I have 3 good maxed staves, Cryomancer Staff, Charfade's Staff, and Celtic War Staff. To me Cryomancer is the best for a Tech build, Charfade is my fav for Dex or Support, and Celtic War is pretty epic for a Str overkill build.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: new super staff? (3/19/2011 20:38:04)

I have to agree with the all above and also add my choice. The Dragon Master staff. This staff is old, but I have enjoyed using it, and I am still very competitive with it in 2v2 dueling.

I like both Charfade and Cryomancer; I am nearly done in enhancing Charfade, next will be Cryomancer then finally Serpent.

To me, there isnt a really bad staff, cause if one puts time into anything, good builds can be born.

The mysterious staff will be released in April. The Jester Staff had an unusual only requirement of 50 dex. I am pondering if this staff will receive any adjustments since it was released prior to focus and agility.

It's great to see a thread for mages. The thinking persons class. :) Well done on the author.

King FrostLich -> RE: new super staff? (3/19/2011 21:30:08)

The best super staff now for non variums is the Celtic Clover Staff. With 8 slots, 36 dex and tech requirements it's the best staff since it is VERY good for making NPC builds or 1v1 and 2v2 builds and of course most builds need high dex and tech ranging about 40 base stat at minimum.

DeathGuard -> RE: new super staff? (3/20/2011 18:29:30)

Frozen Staff doenst allows to mcuh builds cause of it requirements clover staff as frost said is really good.

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: new super staff? (3/20/2011 18:34:37)

I hate how much people forget kringle bot staff because it is my fave staff ever :D

My staff list would be fave: kringle -> serpent -> azreal -> charfade-> cryomancer

I'm not a fan of tech so I don't like cryomancer much and charfade's staff is just a normal staff IMO (with normal tech/sup/dex stats) so it's not all that impressive for me

voidance -> RE: new super staff? (3/20/2011 23:22:25)

I didnt mention Kringle because i dont have it but how dare you put Cryomancer at bottem lol, everyone knows Azrael is by far the worse and Charfade should be at the top or atleast second, not that garbage new serpent staff. Who wants a staff that gives Support and Strength?

button33 -> RE: new super staff? (3/20/2011 23:40:16)

^ azarel is not the worst staff.
How so? Lemme explain it this way. Each staff has it's own special build. Azarel is not a staff for str, dex or tech build. Azarel is for support my friend. Many of the top class mages have it and still use it. Although azarel gives 30 stats at most, it gives a big support boost, which no staff can ccompare to. Azarel makes it easy to spam support. Just by using azarel in my support build, I have been able to get 100 wins with only 6 losses. So this proves that azarel is not at the bottom. If you can do that with only one build with another staff, show me. Also, my build spams support very much, having 60 tech, 94 hp and 140 support. This is a deadly build, and is a build that will work. Therefore, azarel is still of the best staffs in the game.

(sorry i don't know how to quote on this forum,lol)

Yes Voidance I would love a staff that gives strength support and dex!!!!!!!

It gives 5 Strength, 10 Dex and 10 Support. That is a great combination of stats. Kringle Bot, Serpent Warder and Charfade's Staff are pretty much equal.

voidance -> RE: new super staff? (3/21/2011 17:28:23)

No charfade gives support tank stats, serpent gives just offensive stats,and like i said i dont have kringle. And who cares if you got 100 wins 6 loss's because you can only get 2 more support with it over kringle, and kringle gives better dex/tech and more damage. +2 more support doesnt even give you another damage point. Even if you were to use Charfade its only 4 more support which is only 1 damage point your trading for +6 more dex and +3 more tech. And yes im comparing these after you pour all enhancements into support on each staff.

Tiago X -> RE: new super staff? (3/21/2011 18:01:27)

@button33: Azarel is a awesome staff, althought I've never seen it before. xD
Get it? A-z-r-a-e-l =/= A-z-a-r-e-l.

Wraith -> RE: new super staff? (3/21/2011 20:07:33)

Um guys....just a while back, STABER was using Azrael. He is one of the most powerful mages. Notice that 2046808 uses it too.

God, they are all powerful. If you don't like Azrael, give it to the mercs, they will show you its potential. 6 enhance+16 original stats=22 support. Can you imagine that kind of merc?

Well me TMs can be just as good. We can have 18 str, then put everthing on support like those beta mages.(Beta weapons only, founder too.

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: new super staff? (3/21/2011 20:12:53)

^to put it nicely, azreal is outdated

Let's face it, 4 tech/dex isn't gonna get you outta anywhere now, and more 5 focus mages are popping out including mages with phys. armor and 29-35 res., are any of them using azreal? NO

you can argue all you want but post a proof of defeating a tank merc (5 focus with top notch equipment) and a 5 focus BH (top notch stuff too) and a str BH/merc (also top notch), if you can defeat these powerful builds withOUT getting lucky then azreal is a decent staff

Also never ever compare mages to mercs, mercs can crit and crit and crit and hit you with 60 dmg from their multi, but mages only get a powerful zooka hit (malfunction will be great but with low str......it still only boosts your attack a bit)

also don't compare staber nor 204...(the king of war kills), LBs only mean that you play alot and war kills....... only mean you spend a lot, they're great players but that doesn't mean they get great win loss ratios

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: new super staff? (3/21/2011 23:52:11)

Azrael was the first Super Staff. Prior to Azrael, there was no good staff for mages. Due to that, many relied on Frostbane and the Battlemage was born. Not many people knew the baby Azrael was a lvl 29 staff called Xeno. Many mages including myself were experimenting with high support builds that magnified skill reset or heal loop (depending on style of play). Azrael is and always be a great staff, but it is a lvl 30 staff. The newer staves to provide more balance and diversity for more unique builds.

While I used Azrael last year, I know for a fact I had a mid 90's victor ratio against all classes and levels. Both bhs and mercs were not able to compete with Azrael. If you search back into edf files, you will notice how much complaint was about Mages being Op'ed. Hence, now mages been altered to the style of the game now.

With the game now, Mages have to work harder for every victor, and I respect highly every player who still wields this class. It is a slow moving class, and high damage was not designed for this class as it is possible for the other two.

For my final thought. Staves aid players in being better, but great players make great staves. There are many fabulous mages, and keep competing.

Wraith -> RE: new super staff? (3/21/2011 23:59:10)

^JZaanu: Xeno Staff has 4 less points in support, but overall, yes it is powerful. I just don't like its looks(And I found out about it at 33892 experience, no point since i was close to frostbane)

^Eragonshadeslayer67: STABER is on the all-time Leaderboards. Er, well, he used to be on at 90%+.

Vick Vega -> RE: new super staff? (3/22/2011 10:10:19)

king julian -> RE: new super staff? (3/22/2011 15:16:50)

I get y every super staff has its own build but lets focus on support builds more cause they seem to be the more populous mage builds now a days

quote:

BloodRainbow -> RE: new super staff? (3/22/2011 16:08:25)

i got the Celtic War Staff and its been workin fantasic for a 2v2 str build. i kinda wanted to get the serpents warder but im not sure. the only reason i didnt get azreal is cuz its a bit outdated and im not realy a fan of upber high sup builds. (but i love the way it looks)

i still might get serpents warder if i get bored of my str build

Nebula -> RE: new super staff? (3/22/2011 16:20:04)

Strength, Dex and Support is the best combo ( Well, only for primary weapon in a non-strength build ). That's why the Rixty Ripper and Dragon Buster are so good.
